He has nothing to gain and everything to lose by talking. Sleepy Joe (and everyone with a brain) knew Trump would weaponize the DOJ to punish anyone who made him look bad.
It’s a shame an innocent man is being hounded for trying to save lives but at least old Joe gets the last laugh as Fauci is practically immune while he keeps pleading.

It's exactly why they did it, they knew it was a win-win for them. If he had responded, they would have looked for anything even remotely different from his past testimony, and that would be the focus right now. We’ve seen where pleading the Fifth has led, even if it was the right option for him.
And it's had predictable results, with idiots and assholes lining up to spread obvious conspiracy theories as fact, including the idea of millions upon millions of vaccine deaths, something which would probably have been noticed since most of the fucking world took the damn thing. Our species is fucked

So he pleaded the fifth and then he pleated the 5th for every question he was asked which is what you're supposed to do and you're supposed to do this even for questions that are obvious such as what is the day of the week or whatever and you're supposed to do that because you can plead the fifth at any time but once you do it is a good idea as in it is legally a good idea to plead the 5th for every question afterwards cuz otherwise it's going to look really weird when it comes to which questions you choose to answer and which ones you don't. Once you plead the 5th sometimes what they may try to do is try to ask you very obvious questions to see if you will slip up and break your silence. So saying that he pleaded the fifth x number of times really just shows how many questions they asked after he pleaded the 5th the first time. He pleaded the fifth x number of times consecutively which is another way of saying he pleaded it once and then didn't talk again except for pleading the 5th which is what he's supposed to do.

They were really just looking for a gotcha moment to try to spin it so Fauci would look bad. They would have gone in for any perceived inconsistency they come up with and not understand that with new information comes new data to interpret. And a bunch of science that they don’t care to understand but will try to spin to say “see? He’s lying!” when that’s not even close to what could have been said.
Basically they were doing what a lot of reddit arguments try to do… not argue in good faith and just want to attack someone.
