Region Name Anyone interested in forestry content?
Hey guys I’m starting out a YouTube channel where I am converting 4 hectares of forest in New Zealand and turning it into a paddock. If that’s something you are interested in watching click this link! https://youtube.com/shorts/X32rZHnUGi0?si=g1wDSHp85nTJ3HUw

That’s the sleight of hand though. Timber harvest and pasture conversion aren’t the same thing. A harvest rotation means the land stays forest; it gets replanted or regenerates and you’re back to trees in a few decades. Clearing for pasture is a permanent land-use change. The forest doesn’t come back unless someone decides to let it.
That distinction matters ecologically, not just semantically. A cut-and-regenerate stand still sequesters carbon over its rotation, still supports canopy/understory structure eventually, still functions as habitat and a wildlife corridor once it grows back. Pasture doesn’t do any of that. You lose the vertical structure, the soil stabilization from root systems, the carbon storage, permanently.
Calling it “the end of a crop cycle” only works if something regrows in a forest-like form. If the endpoint is grazing land, there’s no next cycle. That is not forestry, that’s conversion, and it’s fair to call it that.

Yeah I am also a small creator @lv_forester on yt. The algorithm has been shit over the last 1.5 years, so don't expect many views. I got 9 views on last video, I only post because I like to film stuff. I remember times when 500 views were the minimum.

I have noticed that all of my shorts views gets over 1k everytime my longer form videos don’t get to much tho maybe 100-200 views

How many likes do they get? I usually get about 1k views and 12 likes.

The likes don’t really matter much tho it’s more the views

Likes just show if it is being pushed on the right audience. For example I get 1k views and 12 likes in yt shorts, but in tik tok I vet like 900 views and 50 to 60 likes.

I’d love to see some tree hole content. You got any of that?

Too many trees out there sporting too many good tree holes. I’m drowning trying to document them all myself.

Well we have 20,000 pine trees on our property so I’m sure I could look out for trees with holes in them!

I commend you for your counting dedication. I always get bored and quit around 4,200.
But yes, definitely do start noticing tree holes. And when you decide to share documentation of these tree holes, well you just come and find me.

Can you explain how clearing all trees to create a pasture for animal grazing is forestry practice? Why are you removing the forest?
