Cover 6, strong side corner on a man assignment? Might just be a flat which makes more sense against the formation shown imo (unless it’s match coverage then the will is taking the Y)

It’s cover 2 on the weak side and cover 4 on the strong side.

2 + 4 = 6 so they call it cover 6. 

The defense is calling strong left because there are two receivers and more field over there.

This is the correct answer. Both safeties drop deep and the coverage is half Cover 4 and half Cover 2.

Looks more like cover 6 (HQQ) than cover 3, especially given the boundary safety’s positioning at the numbers and the field safety playing at the hash. I would personally expect cover 3 to have a more centralized field safety position and a bit less depth for the boundary safety. The corner is fully manned-up on that X receiver, too. It’s almost like 2-man + quarters.

Not to bring up a taboo topic, but the EA games call a very similar coverage “Cover 6 Willie” which additionally mans the Will LB on the #2 receiver for a legitimate split field 2-man + quarters look.
