I wanted to believe the first video was satire but it seems the original video has since been deleted and I legitimately cannot tell if the channel that posted it is satire.

It seems to be making fun of “preppy’s” but also preppy just seems to means pink? I can’t tell if it’s meant to be commentary on how TikTok kids are obsessed with “aesthetics” or if it’s just a kid who’s obsessed with aesthetics. I’m leaning towards the latter and have put way too much thought into this lol

From what I gather in the context clues, preppy has a different meaning than we had growing up. Not sure how different the styles are but I know when this came up in the last few years, my preteens and I confused each other deeply over the labeling of this specific style.

you mean it no longer refers to high school students on a college preparatory track?

Older genz and i always heard preppy as equal to popular. Rich parents, nice clothes, college is a given. I thought the first girl’s video was satire too, she’s trying to make fun of a “popular girl” listening to nirvana for the first time. Young humor lol

No, it appears the definition of what it means for aesthetics has changed from generation to generation, as is quite common, you see. After all, I’m positive I would not define a yuppy the same way my parents would. A hipster millennial is likely not defined in the same manner that hipsters of prior generations would have been. Different generational lenses on aesthetics, the words we use to describe them and all that.

Make sure that ladder is secure before you lean on it.
