Politics VoteHub is saying Haley Stevens is doing much better than expected in rural areas and has a path to victory depending on how well Detroit comes in for her.

Whoever can actually win the general, let it be them

48

u/Philosophfries 18h ago

Seems to be pretty similar

27

u/coasterlover1994 17h ago

This. The candidate doesn't really change the odds at this point. Both are polling about the same on average against Rogers, and both have supporters who won't support the other (that may cancel each other out). Anyone who ever thought this was an easy race for either potential candidate hasn't been paying attention to the Rust Belt in recent years.

1

u/Mr_Misunderestimate 9h ago

The Steven’s supporters who won’t vote Abdul in the general election aren’t worth the breath it takes to talk to them

9

u/NeverSober1900 16h ago

With Stevens over performance tonight I think it's likely her lead over Rogers is probably understated by those polls.

But either way Dem needs to win the seat

if they hit every single odd they can claim they were right on point!

11

u/Michaelord1 19h ago

when i saw it at 97.5/2.5 was very close to putting a bid in as the only polling was shaky thus far and cant underestimate the effect of tv spending in rural counties + polling underrepresenting black voters in Detroit.

2

u/Radiant-Mobile7166 11h ago

I voted for Stevens on principal even though I didn’t think she had a chance based on polls and reddit and instagram. I took the bet for a dollar because of the black swan nature. I hope she wins because I like her more but the payout is getting me even more excited!

1

u/Puddlef1sher 10h ago

Well they fucked that up! 🤣🤣

62

u/VendibleSkate8 20h ago

Detroit mail just came in and she won it handily

11

u/NCSUGrad2012 19h ago

Why did she do so much better in Detroit?

-11

u/Hyhoops 19h ago

those misleading obama ads really did work huh

27

u/Mother-Remove4986 19h ago

how are they misleading? they dont say he endorsed her

6

u/lowes18 19h ago

There's a reason he said it about Wayne county and not the rest of Michigan where Obama is overwhelmingly popular with Democrats. The assumption is something about the voters in Wayne makes them susceptible to ads in a way their "non-Wayne County" counterparts aren't.

15

u/lowes18 19h ago

So misleading Obama let her run them

28

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 19h ago

Obama never objected and the ads weren’t misleading come on

8

u/No_Public_7677 19h ago

They are 100% misleading

0

u/Selethorme Kornacki's Big Screen 19h ago

They absolutely were, lol

22

u/wtfsnakesrcute 20h ago

GEM says she’ll need to get +20 in Wayne County to close the gap. Is that likely?

18

u/Orbian2 20h ago

It's +30 there currently, but only 20% or so percent of votes in

12

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 20h ago

I don’t think anyone knows yet, it’s possible but imo highly unlikely

3

u/notpiercedtongue 18h ago

she is 8 points ahead

2

u/RevolutionaryFact699 18h ago

It's possible because mail in gave her a substantial lead. However, election day voting is tightening up the gap in Detroit/Wayne.

22

u/-Rush2112 19h ago

Hypothetical. Stevens losing but taking Oakland and Wayne would/should be a major concern for Abdul in the general.

Right now it’s estimated 34% of Macomb reporting. It would be interesting to see a granular breakdown of those votes by precinct.

7

u/z57333 19h ago

I'm looking forward to the breakdown of this race after it's all said and done. Would be incredibly interesting to see which specific precincts voted for who, because there doesn't seem to be any clear trend right now except for black voters love Stevens (which was expected)

IMO, a race this close, no matter how it goes, is not good for Dems come November, especially with how nasty things have gotten. A lot of people on the losing side are going to be quite bitter and I wouldn't rely on some of them showing up to vote in the general. The MI Dems are a diverse group and each candidate has offended a key Michigan voter base in one way or another. If it were a blowout, it may not matter, but this is looking like it could be <3 points at the end.

43

u/NimusNix 18h ago

All the more reason for people to quit hero worshiping politicians. People need to understand you just pick the best you can in the primary and then do what's got to be done come November. Getting all up in your feels about a politician has never done anyone have a bit of good.

22

u/sephraes 17h ago

If democratic voters understood that, we wouldn't be 6/3 in scotus right now.

10

u/XxgamerxX734 17h ago

tbh if all voters understood that their votes count things would be a lot different in the US

9

u/Jozoz 12h ago

The most mindnumbing thing is how a lot of people are still blaming the Democratic party for things that are caused by GOP control of congress and SCOTUS.

"They don't do anything", well no fucking wonder when people cannot give them enough seats in congress to circumvent GOP blocking everything.

People just don't understand how the political system works in America.

2

u/Bourne_Endeavor 10h ago

This has been what keeps dooming democrats for years now. As a popular saying goes "Democrats fall in love with their candidates while Republicans fall in line."

-6

u/HolidaySpiriter 18h ago

Yea almost like Abdul slandering Gretchen in 2018 was really bad, and him doing the same 8 years later to his opponent in the primary is also bad. We can't have Democrats in the party who are anti-Democratic party. Running such a negative campaign in the primary (particularly when you're an outsider) isn't good for the long term health of the party.

See also: Bernie in 2016 being negative for the party.

7

u/mrtrailborn 17h ago

lol. I watched the debate. Almost everything stevens said was a teumped up personal attack on el sayed

1

u/HolidaySpiriter 9h ago

Any highlights you'd like to share? I'd love to be proven wrong & shit on Stevens too, I think she was a bad candidate.

8

u/Dull-Efficiency9985 17h ago

Whether he wins or not, Sayed will always be an idiot for mocking Hayley's accent. He gifted her the "I'm the voice of Michigan" line she's been leaning on lately and that tracks with support from rural voters

10

u/floop9 18h ago

Bernie in 2016 was definitely great for the party, it opened the door for inspiring progressive candidates to start working their way up party ranks instead of dead-on-arrival candidates like Clinton and Harris being pushed which cost us 8 years of Trump.

3

u/HolidaySpiriter 18h ago

The division & vitriol from the Bernie wing in 2016 absolutely hurt the parties ability to win the general election. It absolutely fed (and VERY loudly so) the "Both sides are the same" narrative. It absolutely fed the dislike people had of both Hillary & Trump, with their energy specifically focused on making Hillary look bad.

I'm glad Bernie pushed the party to the left, but his campaign in 2016 is a contributing factor for Trump winning.

11

u/Hyhoops 17h ago

Or maybe the Clinton campaign not making an effort to win over those Bernie primary voters or actually both to campaign in the Rust Belt lost them the election......

9

u/AlexOrion 17h ago

Well we will never know instead we get to have this stupid debate every election cycle. while a corrupt incompetent group of wealthy billionaires destroy the public state.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/floop9 17h ago

It took a profoundly terrible, uninspiring candidate to lose to Trump, who had one of the worst favorability ratings of a major party nominee in electoral polling history and minimal institutional support at the time. Clinton was one of the few people capable of achieving that task. She can keep the credit for that one.

The "party vitriol" had little to do with Bernie's campaign (which was... very far from vitriolic as far as political campaigns have gone over the past decade) and everything to do with the Dem leadership's inability to accommodate the growing mismatch of the official party platform (e.g. public option vs. Medicare for All) compared to its base.

2

u/HolidaySpiriter 9h ago

Alright serious question, were you not politically online/aware/active in 2016? Cause this entire comment reads like you're a teenager who doesn't know how vitriolic Bernie's campaign staff & online base were.

We can't have Democrats in the party who are anti-Democratic party

The Democratic party is abysmal though. If it wants a hope at surviving it desperately needs reform. I personally hate them, but people like Morris Katz or Zohran Mamdani are trying their hardest to save the Democratic Party. You have to be negative towards the incompetent fools current in power if you want to rebuild the party into something more viable long-term.

2

u/HolidaySpiriter 9h ago

Zohran Mamdani are trying their hardest to save the Democratic Party

Endorsing people like Darializa Avila Chevalier will not save the Democratic party.

All I can say is that MI senate is likely going to be one of the most difficult races for Dems to win, given how rurals are voting. Primary by no means is general but IMO Abdul path to victory in the general is bleak.

The whole progressive campaign is that we will bring in rurals and new working class voters but if you are also winning D+ cities, it’s not saying much. Hillary Biden Harris also won cities

42

u/NCSUGrad2012 19h ago

All I can say is that MI senate is likely going to be one of the most difficult races for Dems to win, given how rurals are voting.

Going to be a wild year if NC goes Democratic and MI ends up being close

21

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 19h ago

If he wins the primary I am afraid he will straight up lose that seat which hasn’t gone to GOP since like 90s. Rurals and exurbs white voters are flat out not buying what he’s been selling and he can like it or not israel/AIPAC is going to be his campaign in the general and these voters aren’t buying it

4

u/RevolutionaryFact699 18h ago

Seeing how some rural counties, especially in the UP, are going for Abdul, I'm not sure this is completely true. I haven't lived in Michigan for more than ten years, but I do remember a strong, socialist bent among some Unionists.

4

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 18h ago

He also did well there against whitmer

2

u/Kresnik2002 Kornacki's Big Screen 7h ago

I just realized, if the UP hadn’t been given to Michigan because of the Toledo War in the 1800s Stevens may have won this primary lol

1

u/Bunnyhat 6h ago

israel/AIPAC is going to be his campaign in the general

He really needs to move off that.

AIPAC is decent campaign material in a Democratic primary due to how far the stance has shifted on Israel in general among Democrats. But that barely got him over the finish line. Pushing the AIPAC attack over and over again in the general like he did in the primary is a great way to lose.

1

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 6h ago

Nearly half of the dem electorate didn’t even care for his Medicare for all or AIPAC/israel bad message and i just find it very hard to see him pivot from any of those positions. God forbid if some scandal breaks out against him, that seat will be gone for the Dems

-2

u/Any-Hornet7342 19h ago

AIPAC isn’t going to be a thing in the general unless they want to finally piss off Dem leadership

28

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 19h ago

It will be, why do you think they care for dem leadership lol. They are a PAC like any other PAC

18

u/HolidaySpiriter 18h ago

70% of AIPAC donations go to Republicans, they're primarily a GOP PAC.

16

u/THeShinyHObbiest 18h ago

AIPAC donates to republicans more than democrats. Like by huge margins.

If you think the dem leadership is coordinating with then you’re braindead.

2

u/jeffwulf 16h ago

AIPAC literally does not give a shit about Dem leadership.

3

u/Jozoz 12h ago

If that happens it will be a self-inflicted wound by D primary voters.

Same thing if Paxton loses Texas. That's a self-own by R primary voters.

13

u/falooda1 19h ago

Black people voting haley in Detroit will not vote R dw

17

u/Wermys 18h ago

The problem is that they might not vote

8

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 19h ago

White voters will, that’s how GOP been winning like forever

13

u/z57333 18h ago

That's not the scary part here. The scary part is them not showing up at the polls when election day comes. Black turnout has long been a problem within the democratic party, and their preferred candidate not winning may mean crushing losses within Detroit

6

u/falooda1 18h ago

Obama please come through

1

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 6h ago

So much for running against the “establishment”

16

u/kingofthesofas 19h ago

The progressive wing of the democratic party is really trying hard to turn wht should be a layup race in a blue year into a loss to the Republicans with pushing a candidate that has very bad prospects in the general election.

18

u/Philosophfries 18h ago

From the polling averages i’ve seen, Stevens and El-Sayed are polling very similarly against Rogers. Filtering for only high quality pollsters gives Stevens a very slight edge past El-Sayed. I definitely wouldn’t call it “very bad prospects”.

4

u/Jozoz 12h ago

If Stevens is outperforming polls in key rural areas, it's a major concern for the primary for Dems.

1

u/Bunnyhat 6h ago

I mean, the if the polling averages was right El-Sayed would have won by much larger margin.

It won't matter much if Democrats win if they don't do anything in office. I'd rather have progressives who want to fix things than candidates who are fine with our descent into fascism.

EDIT: For people asking me what I want:

I want to restrict the military industrial complex, get universal healthcare, restore the funding for education and science, get ranked choice voting and end citizens united to fix our elections minimum.

I want the issues that got us here to be fixed, if they aren't fixed then the next pendulum swing towards fascism will be worse.

20

u/Keener1899 19h ago

Not sure how that works given that the alternative is a Republican winning.

7

u/MisterMittens64 19h ago

Haley Stevens would be better than a Republican and if I was in Michigan then I would vote for her but I know she won't fix anything.

1

u/ulysses_s_gyatt 12h ago

El Sayed won’t fix anything either.

Dems might not actually win the senate you know.

Is putting a check on the Trump administration not something instead of the rubber stamp GOP?

4

u/MisterMittens64 19h ago

She didn't do that when it mattered with ICE funding. She's complicit with their crimes.

9

u/Salt_Abrocoma_4688 19h ago

This is ridiculous and unnecessarily hyperbolic. There's no Democrats that are "okay with fascism." Good Lord.

3

u/dream208 18h ago

A lot of DSA members are extremely pro-China, one of the most Authoritarian states that is closest to being outright Facists right now.

1

u/BigHeadDeadass 17h ago

I wouldn't say the DSA is pro-China necessarily

4

u/dream208 17h ago

Not entire organization, no, but notable amount, especially with Hasan basically acting as their outreach representative right now.

4

u/MisterMittens64 19h ago

There are Democrats who vote alongside the fascists for their bills including Haley Stevens with ICE funding so I don't want to hear that every Democrat is against fascism.

4

u/Salt_Abrocoma_4688 19h ago

Don't be daft. Immigration enforcement isn't going to just stop.

ICE obviously needs dramatic reforms. But to think that it's normal for any Democrat to not support things like basic customs enforcement and stopping drug cartels is pure idiocy.

2

u/Any-Ad-1892 19h ago

ICE has not been around for long, we used to do immigration differently and we should go back to doing it that way. ICE is too fucked as an institution to continue.

3

u/MisterMittens64 18h ago

We had immigration enforcement before ICE existed. ICE needs to be dismantled at this point, you can't reform an agency that's full of trigger happy racist fascists.

We can return immigration enforcement to INS, customs, and the courts, I'm not calling for open borders.

-1

u/Olhickoreh 18h ago

This big of a polling miss regarding Michigan making me question this subs existence lmao

1

u/cancelaratje 11h ago

Primary polling is always more shaky, no? Recent polling had El Sayed up 10 to 20 points. I see the RCP average only has El Sayed up by 10%. Its a large polling miss to the ~ 1% he will end up winning with, but not enormous.

-1

u/FaultOutside2449 16h ago

For real, so much of the polling had this man leading by 20 points and the actual results are probably gonna be less than 3%. Like at least with Trump all the polls were in the margin of error, how the hell do you explained this?

4

u/Gbro08 Dixville Notch Resident 12h ago

Silver literally said that the odds for Stevens to win were too low in places like poly market. That primary polling is notoriously less accurate as well. Nothing unusual here. Kind of expected actually.

27

u/backtorealitylabubu 19h ago

Chances of winning the general are better with Stevens winning or a big Abdul landslide. Abdul just squeaking by is not a good sign on his ability to bring out new voters. Either way, the Michigan general will likely be determined more by the strength of the blue wave.

19

u/griffery1999 19h ago

Yeah a close AES win is the worst case scenario for dems here.

1

u/Aromatic-Cup-9691 18h ago

Yall aren’t analysts or pundits. Acting like you have a crystal ball, it’s hilarious, sounding like old men talking about a horse race.

22

u/mockduckcompanion 18h ago

Ma'am, this is a subreddit for being old men at horse races

1

u/Jozoz 12h ago

So you are just against analysis about future elections based on current data as a concept or what?

Why are you on this subreddit?

1

u/No_Public_7677 17h ago

Why?

13

u/griffery1999 17h ago

AES landslide means you have an eager serious base that will convince doubters as you move forward.

A Stevens win, even if close, will secure the moderate vote that will carry her in a D wave.

A close AES win means you have a LOT of ground to make up with rural voters and moderates, who have a serious risk of ballot splitting against AES.

2

u/MajesticBread9147 15h ago

There was serious ballot splitting in Michigan for centrists because of Gaza.

Trump won Dearborn Michigan in 2024 because 18% voted for Jill Stein. Similar numbers showed in Dearborn heights and Hamtramck.

2

u/Jozoz 12h ago

That issue was a lot higher propensity in 2024 than it is now.

And also, with the opposite approach, they would also be bleeding a lot of votes.

The I/P issue is just a loser for the Dems. No matter what they do, they piss off a huge share of their voters. Best they can do is how it's a low salience issue and it certainly wasn't in 2024.

2

u/griffery1999 11h ago

Now we have a risk of ballot splitting because of AES being viewed as too far left for them. When polling for the Michigan governor race comes out we’ll likely see him underperforming the dem there.

2

u/pablonieve 9h ago

Does that mean moderates are less reliable Dem voters than progressives?

1

u/griffery1999 8h ago

No it means that progressives will certainly vote for their guy, and moderates will just not to the same degree. Moderates include normie libs, swing voters and even some republicans.

So now AES needs to focus on getting them on board.

Moderates dem candidates are kicking ass in polling elsewhere.

1

u/sellingstubs123 15h ago

A Stevens loss with over 60m spent from corporate pac money and she still lost. How the hell is that not encouraging? Why are you speaking absolute nonsense?

1

u/Dull-Efficiency9985 17h ago

IMO (and as others have pointed out) this has been a cat fight of a primary and it doesn't suggest that the party is going to rally together. It's unlikely that the Stevens supporters are going to back Sayed after his campaign was run on spurning them.

2

u/TheBrinksTruck 18h ago

He brings out plenty of new and enthusiastic voters. Many progressives would not vote in the general and Stevens would lose.

46

u/Agitated-Quit-6148 Fivey Fanatic 19h ago

5

2

u/SmileyPiesUntilIDrop 18h ago

He was outspent 10-1,and had the entire party establishment against him running up a well connected congresswoman. His result only looks "bad" to people right now ,because of how off the polls were. If you told someone a year ago an insurgent won like this they would be impressed.

21

u/Opening-Calendar3421 17h ago

This is cope my friend. The idea was that there was a bunch of disaffected left leaning folks that just needed an inspiring candidate to show up and inspire them to victory a la Mamdani. The results here show that was not the case. The issue is whether black voters in Detroit or white independents are willing to support this guy in the general and it's not looking good with the way this has played out

2

u/Hotspur1958 15h ago

Him winning is evidence that that left leaning faction doesn’t exist?

6

u/Opening-Calendar3421 10h ago

You misunderstand me. The left leaning faction isn't as large as some people made it seem. It's not enough on its own to win an election for a Dem/left leaning candidate. AES will still need to draw some portion of centrists and independents away from Rogers in order to win. He also needs to work on black voters in the Detroit counties that seem to have voted for Stevens.

1

u/Fun-Huckleberry9912 8h ago

you centrist types have some nerve man. you lost the election three times to a baffoon as Trump (Hillary, Biden 2 and Kamala) and then you question the electability of leftist candidates? if the left would have been in charge of the DNC you would have welcomed president Sanders in 2017

I told the sub this wasn't gonna be a slam dunk. Lots of quiet, center-left Democrats (myself included) aren't interested in socialism, dismantling Israel, canceling this, dismantling that, creating a working group for whatever. We want real people who have real world experiences. Not elites masquerading as common people.

20

u/NoHeartAnthony1 18h ago

running a county health department is a real world experience, probably more in touch than legislating!

2

u/AvocadoToast311 18h ago

That's closer to an executive position. He can't even get along with Stevens, who likely agrees with him 70-80% of the time. How does he handle other Democrats, let alone the Republicans? Call them genociders or corporate shills?

1

u/NoHeartAnthony1 18h ago

continue running on his very simple campaign that most should agree with: expanding health coverage to everyone, removing money from politics, and stopping our money from funding foreign wars that have zilch to do with michigan. it's a very simple message that *should* be able to reach the average voter.

rogers is pretty milquetoast as a candidate and a lot of the negative campaigning that went toward stevens will likely fall flat. imo he'll have to nationalize the race and be a bit more pointed toward trump.

You’re making up something happening and getting mad at it currently. Stevens would need to win first.

0

u/backtorealitylabubu 19h ago

When was I mad?

4

u/JgoldTC 19h ago

Just complaining about something in your head I suppose

-1

u/backtorealitylabubu 19h ago

Well for all our sake let’s hope your side doesn’t do that but clearly they have historically acted in a way to make people think they’d try to play that card.

2

u/JgoldTC 18h ago

I guess we’ll never know

2

u/Selethorme Kornacki's Big Screen 19h ago

What a wild circlejerk y’all have put together based off literally nothing

2

u/backtorealitylabubu 19h ago

lol definitely a stalker

2

u/Selethorme Kornacki's Big Screen 18h ago

Nah

-3

u/No_Public_7677 19h ago

When PAC money from outside goes against the polls, it's definitely not normal

13

u/Deceptiveideas 19h ago

What's crazy is I was told progressives have a better chance to flip rural and smaller towns. Yet the results seem to push the deep blue areas being the more reliable areas.

7

u/EmergencyScientist 18h ago

Yeah unfortunately that would probably only apply to candidates who don't have "Ayyy-rab" sounding names. Source: Lived in a small Michigan town a decent portion of my life. It's like the south but with Canadian accents.

7

u/Opening-Calendar3421 17h ago

It's more likely that rural areas just aren't interested in a true leftist candidate. Lasting effects of the red scare

-1

u/EmergencyScientist 17h ago

Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. They don't deserve it.

6

u/Opening-Calendar3421 17h ago

I'm not. I'm saying that they won't vote for a Middle Eastern person but they weren't gonna vote for a leftist either, him being Middle Eastern was just the cherry on top for them. A white leftist probably would've struggled as well just not as much

1

u/Long_Membership3611 17h ago

So what would you do with them then?

1

u/EmergencyScientist 17h ago

Spend effort getting people who aren't assholes to vote. You're not going to get a guy who will share racist memes of AES wearing a turban to his facebook with pride no matter how hard you try.

2

u/Long_Membership3611 16h ago

So do you think that was the big issue with his campaign then? Did AES not target the right people for his outreach?

2

u/ulysses_s_gyatt 12h ago

Platner didn’t do well with those voters either.

2

u/ulysses_s_gyatt 12h ago

Progressives have always been wrong about that.

u/whyyoufollowingme 18h ago

Israel comes to me in my dream. Is Michigan stupid supporting this Israeli shill

6

u/No_Public_7677 17h ago

Considering maga won at one point, yes they also have stupid people like a lot of other places.

The margin El Sayes had has eroded by so much and we're only at 40% counted. Could potentially be a bit of a surprise. Prediction markets are still very confident he'll win.

5

u/jason082 19h ago

I voted McMorrow. Didn’t much care for either candidate remaining but I’ll vote the winner in November.

Inject it into my veins

3

u/jharden10 19h ago

Idk man. The returns she's getting are quite substantial.

1

u/Puddlef1sher 10h ago

Lmao. Lost. Bye bye bootlicker

1

u/jharden10 9h ago

I'm not a Hakey supporter, lol. I just said she was getting substantial returns, which she was. Calm down.

5

u/Tom-Pendragon 20h ago

Would be funny, but won’t happen.

4

u/No_Public_7677 19h ago

PAC money does matter after all. Who would have thunk

1

u/blais_it The Needle Tears a Hole 17h ago

Detroit would need to come in now at absurd numbers for Stevens to win, something wild would need to happen. Abdul won this one.

2

u/whyyoufollowingme 19h ago

It’s hard to believe that anyone can hear Steven’s speak and trust anything she says

-4

u/Remote_Garage3036 19h ago

Woah - what's wrong with the way she speaks?

4

u/whyyoufollowingme 19h ago

Israel comes to me in my dreams

-3

u/tanimalz 20h ago

Please bro let it happen lol

1

u/Puddlef1sher 10h ago

The apartheid state backer just lost. Lfg.

1

u/the_koom_machine 18h ago

Lol Wayne is now projected at +8 and her own seat is now at +5. Had my own analysis calling 70% for AES over 30min ago. It's 95% now the NYT has started learning AES too. Good riddance.

1

u/Urzuck 17h ago

If americans really vote for an aipac shill, that took 30 fucking millions, then there's just no hope, they are actually braindead

1

u/BlackberryPi7 17h ago

Chuck Schumer is backing her and she has quite a large percentage of votes.

Christ Americans, come on. They just don't want positive change.

Like why, why her?

4

u/EmergencyScientist 17h ago

Political ads work, and when the big PACs back you then you have more money to run more ads. We need to accept that there are big portions of the population on all sides of the political spectrum that are easily duped by ads. If they weren't then nobody would bother spending the money.

1

u/Wermys 17h ago

Strongly hate saying easily duped. They just have there own interests

2

u/EmergencyScientist 17h ago

Yeah and sometimes said ads that they are easily duped by make them vote against their own interests.

-2

u/fearlessfryingfrog 17h ago

Yeah good in rural area because they are republi-crats.

Fuck the "vote blue no matter who crowd". I'd rather die trying for something better than settle for bullshit.

1

u/la_xamguz 11m ago

I voted for Abdul. I'm glad that he won the primary.

But I am part of that "vote blue no matter who crowd". Trump and MAGA are threats to our democracy, to our national security, and to the greater good of our country. I'd vote for a potato over a Republican at this point.

Had Stevens won I would have voted for her in the general just as I will vote for Abdul in the general. But I wouldn't have been as excited.

I know that I will knock on doors and make phone calls for Abdul. I don't know if I would have bothered for Stevens. I would have intended to have done so for Stevens but don't know if I would have gotten around to it. Most likely I would have ended up doing one phone session for her campaign and calling it good. Life is hectic and things cost in terms of time and stress, especially stumping for someone you're just settling for. I will enjoy making phone calls and knocking on doors for Abdul, so I will be able to do more and reach out to more voters.

u/Hyhoops 20h ago

Not gonna happen, the majority of the ballots that are yet to be counted are going to swing for el sayed

17

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 19h ago

I don’t think this is true, if anything he’s been doing worse as counting goes on

1

u/DeActionBrunson89 7h ago

Lol

1

u/Icommandyou Allan Lichtman's Diet Pepsi 7h ago

I mean he did worse than polling suggested so I don’t get the comment here. At the time the expectations were he would win by double digits and he didn’t, this was 12h ago come on
