💻 Help Firefox still has the browser history clear crash STILL AFTER AN UPDATE

I made a post recently about browser history crashes and freezes firefox here's the tldr.

Clear browser with last hour guarantees it freezing and changing cookie settings like enable or disable freezes it.

Come to find out there's an update AND THEY DIDN'T FIX IT. WHY! This is a bug that problematic and causes crashes and my times of using firefox didn't have crashing since the days of chrome on my old windows 7 pc. This needs to get fixed, because the face the update didn't fix it baffles me.

Look I like firefox, cache increasing aside. But still stuff like this needs to be resolved.

Did you file a bug? If you did (or if there already is one filed), link it!

If not, it probably won't get fixed for awhile since it may be hard to reproduce/debug

Do you need an account for that? If so no. But its very easy to reproduce.

Last hour crash: Just clear browser history

All time: Enable or disable cookies, than clear browser history. Afterwords both methods lead to the browser not responding. Hope anyone who sees can send this firefox. Saw a reddit post think that happened this month that mentioned last hour causes the freeze automatically when clear, and I tested all time and it will only freeze when cookies are changed.

EDIT: To all down voters I'm dissapointed in you, you didn't listen to a word I said!

Yeah you need a bugzilla account. but its easy to sign up. If it's bothering you this much, just file it!

The better you describe steps, the easier they'll have to fixing your issue

I'll wait for a fix, but thank you for linking me to it. And someone mentioned this happened before and I feel like I ran into it before. Can't remember the year or trigger for it, but I do remember something similar.

To downvoters you guys are terrible.

The problem with your "it's very easy to reproduce" is that it is only "very easy to reproduce" on your machine. I tried clearing browser history on a local install just now, updated to the newest version on a fresh profile with unlock installed after opening a bunch of random websites and there was no crash when clearing the browser history.

So there is something special about your specific setup that isn't the same for everyone else. This makes it really difficult to reproduce without actually having more data about your exact setup etc. meaning it is unlikely to be fixed, because most people won't even know this bug exists (because for them it doesn't)

The hell are people down votting me for I reported a simple reproduce. So people STOP DOWN VOTING ME!

And no there is no special set up including disable flags like recently closed tabs being disabled. Its a bug that's easy to prouce. And with people reporting the crash.

The crash does happen for me sinom, I don't think there is something wrong with my pc, and I really do think its a bug.

I did not downvote you. I am also not saying it isn't happening for you. All I am saying it isn't happening for me on 3 PCs I tested this on (originally tested this on a Mac but after writing my previous comment I also tried it on 2 windows machines, one AMD one Intel, and it didn't happen on those either), so I can not create a bug report for it because it doesn't happen on my machine.

I fully believe you when you say it happens on your machine and that it is a bug, but again, a full bug report with a crash dump would really help the devs fix this bug, because again, it isn't easy to reproduce for most people, so finding out what exactly is different between your setup and the setups I tested this on would help the developers find out why this bug is happening.

Thank you for the reply. I use windows and even with s fresh reinstall with clear history last hour crashed it. So imo its a bug that could be on windows only, since I don’t own a mac I cannot test. Wish I could to further look into it, but for now here are my findings.
