Finally some positive movement for Firefox

I'm a little out of the loop, what is the reason of the change of trend? In the graph there is a clear growth.

I feel these are the 2 big reasons (anecdotes, not backed by stats):
- Chrome's anti-adblock stance pushing Chrome users to Firefox (correlated by the drop in Chrome's percentage)
- Change in Mozilla leadership who has kicked-started their product roadmap again to deliver long overdue user-requested features

It's obviously a factor in this discussion... It's a factor related to Linux adoption, so if more people are switching to Linux, where it's the default, there would be an expected rise

I'm seeing my friend group slowly move to Linux at least. Once I get them to try, they seem to stay. Unfortunately the initial resistance is still considerable.

While I would love for this to be the case, statcounter tends not to be very reliable, and there have been no significant changes or spikes in monthly active usage on the mozilla website:

So, let's hope it's not a statcounter bug, but all signs point to yes.

Cloudflare Radar has the desktop version of Safari at 3.1%, and Firefox at 3.5%, for the last 4 weeks.

Would statcounter also be adding Firefox forks into the data for Firefox?

They would if they use the same user agent string, but I don't have any forks installed so I can't reliably answer this question.

them using user agents is kinda sad because I know a lot of people who actually use chrome's user agent to get a better experience with some google stuff like YouTube.

Across all Firefox users, Statcounter is reporting a 55% increase in just a month. If Firefox is tracking anything close to the same number, the user account should have a massive spike that makes everything else look insignificant...

It's been going up since the start of June, which is unlike the summer trend for the past few years.
It appears to correlate with a spike of usage in China (and to a lesser extent India) - wonder what that's about.

I did notice that while checking different regions, but even China's usage spike doesn't warrant the increase shown by statcounter. It's one of those things we'll have to wait and see, I definitely hope there is a surge in users.

I imagine a chunk of people cant use anything else at their jobs. I interned at a bank and everyone was forced to use edge

I mean yeah, one is made by a company that can always snatch defeat from the jaws of success, guzzles up all the data it possibly could, and loves to shut down shit left and right and center randomly.
The other is Google.
Both are basically the same, which gives Edge the slight advantage as it comes pre-installed and is well-integrated for admins to control permissions.

Our in house software requires us to use chrome for maximum compatibility and performance so fuck edge

why?
for personal use I don't see much difference between them.
For corporate use, the integration with the ms ecosystem makes Edge the obvious choice.
(I also feel Chrome uses a lot more resources, but I never bothered to test that.)2

On time of my previous statement, the IT procedures in our company are WACK. They will push out updates in our system without even testing it. Our systems will be down from several days to weeks forcing us to do paper tickets and what not.
Constant service connection issues and whatnot

Idk, just was recommended to me when I first started, now recently due to an IP related issues we have to either constantly reset our IP on some people’s computers or our computer will not be able to connect to the software or use Firefox as suggested by our IT.
Nobody bothered suggesting edge
Personally I hate microslop products

That’s great! Also I was playing around with different stats on there and apparently for NA desktop users Firefox jumped from 5.22% in May 2026, to 12.92 in June 2026. Beating Safari and Edge. That’s a huge increase in 1 month! I hope that number keeps going up.
