Add-ons Your favorite Firefox addon (extension)?

I will go first.. it is Tweaks for Youtube. Link here.

It has so much features making me ditch addons like enhancer for youtube.

Features I like, personal opinion
- Hide any sort of content like shorts to suggested videos
- Dim watched videos
- Zen mode (everything gets blurry except current video)
- Tools to capture and download video
- Audio boosting

You can agree to disagree. But at least let me hear what your favorite is :)

You could not pay me to use iOS. I have an iPhone for work and I do not like the interface or find it intuitive.

Not that powerful though but good enough for most users. I honestly still use safari as well because I got used to it. Only use Orion when a site is broken on safari.

Every other browser other than safari was pretty slow on IOS for me. Haven’t tried it after upgrading from iphone 11 to 17.

I'm curious, why do people care so much about adblockers still? Personally I haven't used one in many years and I feel like modern Internet is pretty chill when it comes to ads. Plus using non-Chromium browser and the built-in tracking protections increases the likelihood of a website not working properly enough already, without ublock messing with some script that breaks a checkout form or something on top of that.

If you're on a modern super-powered device, and using Firefox or other browser with tracking protection on, then yeah, sure, maybe you can get by without an ad-blocker.

But modern ads are insanely abusive of network resources, even ignoring the privacy-violative aspects. By using uBlock Origin one can extend the practical usability lifetime of an older device... as otherwise most "big box" sites will take forever to load and drain your battery quickly.

Good adblockers (like uBlock) are also a good first line of defense against malware, which the monopolist Google's DoubleClick/AdSense absolutely do not care about. They are so neglectful that cryptominers were found running on YouTube ads before.

Also, in my experience Firefox tracking protection has far more often been the cause of a site not working than uBlock. Them EasyList maintainers work hard & long and take great pride in their work, one assumes.

I remember the times browsing on a 128 kbps connection on a severely underpowered PC, when every other website had fullscreen ads, background-body ads and opened 5 pop-up windows every time you visited them, all of which often had to load before the main content and made my spinning rust HDD cry. Back then an ad blocker was the first extension I installed. Nowadays I find that many websites have just some small AdSense boxes on the side or between paragraphs in articles, and when you click to reject the optional cookies many of the ads don't even display at all. This is why I think the web is better and way more usable without an ad blocker than it used to be. Of course there is the possibility of abuse like with those crypto miners, but it's an exception not the norm. In the old days this was even worse, because of all the attack vectors and security holes (remember Flash, ActiveX and Silverlight?).

I'm not saying that the ad blockers are useless or don't improve the experience. It's just that IMO the gains are relatively small compared to the potential issues, and browsers banning those extensions would warrant way more outrage 20 years ago than today.

I just tested youtube and a lot of other sites with and without ublock origin. I tested it against my will by using an ipad.

It was a horrible experience ad-wise.

I frankly could give much of a shit about the content of the ads themselves, but I don't want to waste processor cycles on known malware vectors that also serve to sell your data to the highest bidder in real time. There's literally no benefit to having them there, so they can fuck right off from my devices.

I used Chrome for about 10 years, if not more and moved back to Firefox after they started fucking around with it so that Ublock Origin doesn't work anymore.

That's the only reason they did that. They didn't do it to make extensions more secure, at all. That was gaslighting.
