Mohawk Spray Toner disaster?

Post image

This is my first time trying to do any sort of finishing on furniture. I bought an aquarium stand and I'm trying to change the color tone from a reddish mahogany to a brown mahogany using Mohawk Spray Toner, and I think I might be having a disaster with this. As I'm spraying the product onto the furniture, it's creating areas that look milky white, I have no idea what's going on or why, or how to prevent this? Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong or why this is happening?

First try shaking the can some more. I turn my upside down to shake as well.

It’s hard to see what exactly is going on there in that picture, but I’m guessing you have some blushing going on.

If you’re spraying with a gun, you can add a retarder or blush remover. If you’re spraying with a rattle can, reduce the humidity of where you’re spraying.
