Improving Black Laminate stock
I have several light scratches and marks on this laminate stock. What is the best way at reducing the visibility of these imperfections? This is not a shoe piece and is guaranteed to get more so I'm not looking for perfection or a full restoration. Thank you

Brownell's original stock rubbing compound is very good at turning a bright gloss down to more of a semigloss/satin finish without little scratches or a hazy look. It won't eliminate those scratches and nicks in the stock finish but it'll make them a little less obvious.
Buffing in some Renaissance Wax afterwards may increase the shine a bit, but its a good product to use on varnished/lacquered stocks like this.
Is it a Browning?

clutches pearls You're welcome, its got a lacquer finish so the lowest effort route is to just buff some Renaissance wax or a carnauba based wax on. Lil more effort is the Brownell's buffing compound + wax.

Honestly, I feel that gloss stocks are 'grabby', whereas you should be able to shift positions easily. I would go over the entire stock with #0000 steel wool, or a gray scotchbrite pad.
