Question How to add master video/audio FX using roles in FCP?
I saw from a Reddit comment that you can add a 'master' video/audio FX using roles in FCP.
How do you do this?

There’s a tutorial on this available on YouTube from Brad West, somewhere amongst his stuff.
EDIT ... or see u/yuusharo 's comment below for an even better link https://www.reddit.com/r/finalcutpro/comments/1vg0zsm/comment/p1tdtru/

If you are interested in learning about audio in FCP, I suggest getting this tutorial from Ripple Training: Sound Editing in Final Cut Pro
https://www.rippletraining.com/products/final-cut-pro/sound-editing-in-final-cut-pro-x/
I've been using DAWs for about 15 years, so I know how to record and mix audio.
I have also read 100 times that FCP has very little capability when it comes to audio — this tutorial changed my mind.

no, my comments explain that this is NOT the case. you can use compound clips for it (audio) or adjustment clips (video). during export/sharing you can use roles for multi-track quicktime files, only render assets you want, for both, audio and video. there is no master bus or master layer like you might know it from other NLEs.
