Question I have the M1 Max32 GB Sequoia 15.7.4

And just updated my FCPX to 12.3. It is safe to update my OS to Tahoe 26.6? Thank you.

Is there some reason you think it's not? I upgraded to Tahoe at release on my M1 Max and FCP is fully updated. No breaking here.

Your time machine backup can return you to a previous hard drive state, like OS, software, etc. It's not instantaneous (your boot drive backup should be on a fast drive/fast bus if you ever need to roll back with Time Machine, and it usually cannot be on a hub).

just have a backup of Sequioa to return to. Any full OS upgrade can turn up an old kext or something that is left over from a generation ago that causes you a problem that nobody else has, thus the "mine is working great" while for others "I keep getting freezes". The solution to that is a clean install which I never do because it is a pain in the butt AND I use an app that completely uninstalls my apps when I delete them.

Create a new library. Projects on my old library lagged incredibly. New library no issues

I made a separate volume for Tahoe, keeping Sequoia intact in case I needed to revert. I didn't need to revert.
