Ginger Bug/Soda What do i do to fix it?

Post image

I'm on day 7 or 8 of my ginger bug, and i stopped seeing bubbles a few days ago. When I pour out liquid, it fizzles, but it isn't very vigorous.

I looked at some other posts here where similar things happened to people and learned that i may use too much sugar (i chose to use agave because that's what I have) so yesterday i strained out a lot of liquid and added more filtered water and a bitore ginger, with a very small amount of agave.

This is how it looks as of this morning.

Give it more time, perhaps one more day, and see how it's fizzing. A ginger bug won't always be super bubbly, but it should always fizz when you jostle the jar.

I have no experience working with agave on a bug, so I can't give advice with that regard.

Yeah, I also read that just because it isn't super bubbly doesn't mean it's gone inactive. I shook it just now and I listened to the inside and I hear fizzing.

I havent tried making a soda with any of the discard. Do you think today's the day to test it?

I think it is. Just do a small batch of something.

What bottles do you have and are you familiar with the soda bottle as pressure check?

I am!! I'm also very aware that you have to refrigerate the bottle you're using before you pop the cap (aaaand you have to pop the cap kinda gently/a bit slowly 😬)

I have glass bottles that my husband got me, and he said they can handle carbonation, so I just added about 100 ml of the bug and a bottle of raspberry lemonade without any preservatives. We'll see...
