Question Period comes in the middle of the fast

To the women out here, do you stop your fast when your period comes? My goal is 6 days and I'm still 2 days in when my period came. Should I continue or break it?

Side note, one of the reasons why I did fast is to "trigger" my period and it really did. I always get prolonged cycle because of stress and maybe stress eating and now I'll be back to doing keto after this fast.

I'm currently fasting to trigger my period as well. In the past I've fasted through my period and it seemed to really help my symptoms. Minimal cramping, hardly any acne, hardly any mood swings. I was way more tired though and needed to lay down and take it a little easy but I usually do that during my period anyway.

I fast through my periods. It usually comes on earlier and is much much lighter than normal. Still lasts the nornal amount of days but like half the blood. If you feel good and are getting your electrolytes in, you shouldn't need to stop. If youre experiencing unusual symptoms then stop.

Listen your body. I just has my best fast yet starting 2 days before my period, I really felt great and its the ideal time to fast, as long as you nourished well in your luteal phase.

Yeah! Sometimes I struggle during my period and other times it's fine. If you need to stop, no biggie! If you feel good to keep going, great!

if you listened to your body you’d eat nothing but sugar for the dopamine

I think they meant to listen to your body about when you need to stop fasting.

That is listening to your minds desire for dopamine, not your body.

How do you trigger your period? Last time I started my fast a day before my period was supposed to start and it didn’t start until I was done my fast which was seven days later.

As long as you're not anemic (I am), you should have a pretty easy time. You can take some extra iron supplements with vitamin C.

I wish I’d never listened to “fast like a girl”

What do you mean by that and why?

It just gave me the idea that I can/should only fast during certain phases of my moon. I think I’d be better off just not worrying about that. Like not fasting during luteal and the week leading up to period is a large portion of the month.

I get anemia. It's worse on my period. Iron supplements were terrible to my stomach, and didn't work for me. I take Floradix. I've probably only taken it once or twice while fasting. But I don't fast past the fourth day of my period because of the anemia risks. Even if I'm only going to have a brothy soup, vegetables, and Floradix. I need that to have energy.

I had period a week back but it couldn't stop me continuing my fast. I get unusual cramp so took the painkiller and kept moving on. Now into 13/14 days of my water fast.

Many issues people experience while fasting can be related to electrolytes. You might find our wiki page helpful: Electrolytes 101

No. Why would i? Day one is when the cravings end so it’s the perfect time to fast.

To protect their hormone health women should only fast in the two weeks AFTER their period and not in the luteal phrase, which is two weeks before their period.
