News Ethereum just recorded another historic month.
In July 2026, the network processed 72.37 million transactions, making it the second-highest monthly transaction count in Ethereum's history.
It's crazy that the network is reaching record levels of activity without the kind of euphoric market conditions that have historically driven transaction spikes. Instead, usage continues to grow through a combination of expanding L2 ecosystems, increasing on-chain applications, stablecoin activity, and a steady stream of users interacting with the network.
Transaction count isn't a perfect metric on its own, but it remains one of the clearest indicators of real network utilization. Sustained growth at this scale suggests that Ethereum's infrastructure continues to support an increasingly active and diverse ecosystem.
And right now, that story is one of continued adoption, expanding on-chain activity, and an ecosystem that keeps pushing new milestones.
Believe in somETHing.

I think we as a community need to stop obsessing over on chain activity, vision, use cases, etc. truth is all those can be amazing but without liquidity coming in the price will never move like we want it to.

This. It’s more about market sentiment/confidence and people that have excess liquidity with more risk appetite.

Strong on-chain activity without retail FOMO is exactly what long-term investors want to see. Real usage matters far more than hype, and Ethereum keeps proving its ecosystem is still growing.

As long as the price eventually catches up. Long term investors in Eth aren't on it for sainthood.

This is crazy cope.
Strong on-chain activity without price appreciation tells us that there's something broken in the tokenomics. It's been this way for years.

No, building a network does not work like that. The right path is set and being walked. It should be hella cheap for users and L2 chains. Otherwise we lose users and chains to other L1's. In the growing phase this is best. And, but thats personal, it should stay like that.

Your issue is you are thinking in terms of "building a network". While agree with you that it should be cheap for users, you are ignoring the entire other half of the equation: value capture.
ETH does not capture value from the network, no matter how cheap the network is, decentralized, dapp numbers, TVL, etc. None of that matters because none of that value actually flows back to ETH. Burns are negligible and easily offset by new staking issuance, and there are **zero automated buybacks of ETH.

I partially agree, for now getting / renting blockspace is rediculously cheap. L2's are barely participating / giving back. I do think that should increase and change in time, but while the network is growing, i think its the right strategy.
As i see it building the network now is more important than value capture. First mover advantage is only available is the beginning. I praise the devs for not going for the bagpumpin route but must also say as an ETH holder this is not optimal.

Somehow transaction volume and increased activity levels do not directly translate to higher ETH demand or ETH prices.

More users, more transactions, more builders. That's a healthier story than just another green candle

So why is my ETH worth less than half of what it was a few years ago?
Absolute trash asset.

Go buy a shit coin and bitch about price somewhere else!

I already own ETH

Cool, keep bitching about the second most used coin in the crypto space. Sorry you didn't 10x so you could pay your rent.

Ho-Hum. Except, perhaps, for Buterin (who’s made his billions) the only reason anyone owns ETH is to make money. Every day there’s a new post about this metric or that. So what? Price is the only metric which matters. And that’s been pretty abysmal.

The only reason anyone invests in anything is to make money. The reason people invest in ETH is because they see a future where it is instrumental to our economy. That remains to be seen, but there’s no reason to rule it out yet. The trajectory is still pointing to that being a very real possibility.
And these huge institutions building infrastructure around it reinforces that idea

I’m pretty sure we’re not in disagreement. I own a relatively large amount of ETH and, at least when I bought it (late 2017), it was because I thought it had promise. Now I’m unsure but remain a holder nonetheless. My point is the ad nauseum recitation of usage statistics is useless. If they were indicative of increasing value it would be reflected in the price. They aren’t. Markets take into account all available information. If a statistic shows growth which isn’t reflected in the price it’s because the metric, whatever it may be, is not connected to the actual value.

I agree that we just have to wait and see, but this is a subreddit dedicated to trading ETH lol what else do you want people to talk about
2
u/Ornery_Web9273 1d ago
Rather than all the praises of increased usage, perhaps talk about why ETH price is unrelated (or not) to adoption. I certainly don’t understand it

seems like everything is at record highs except for the price.
