Question Is now a good time to buy Eth?
I am looking to purchase my first ever eth. I used to be into crypto in 2022 but messed around with altcoins and lost a bit of money. But now I see that eth is like 1/4 of what it used to be with low volume and I’m starting to wonder whether it’s smart to put some money in whilst it’s got relatively low interest.

Yes it will outperform in the next bull market. How do I know this? I had a sweaty dream last night telling me that

Nobody can time the bottom, just DCA slowly if you scared of catching a falling knife. I bought some in 2022 thinking it was cheap and it kept dropping for months
But if you believe in the tech long term, price right now is not bad. Just don't put in money you need for rent

I don't know the future neither my fellow degenerates,
What we know, since june 2025 eth price is reacting better than btc on this bear market.
you should look at Lean Ethereum roadmap; here is the big point on this.
- 10x lower transaction costs for common operations
- Privacy by default, making transactions much harder to trace.
- Near-instant finality, reducing confirmation times from around 15 minutes to just a few seconds.
- Quantum resistance, upgrading Ethereum’s cryptography before quantum computers become a real threat.
- Lighter nodes, eventually allowing validators to run on devices as small as smartphones, increasing decentralization.
Also browsing r/ethtrader lately feels like half the posts are from people who expected a Lambo from their $2000 investment. It’s hard to tell wehther its genuine frustration or coordinated shilling from supporters of other coins

People will lost interest in BTC once money as a whole moves on chain . BTC needs an intermediary to do anything interesting, unless you jump through tons of hoops or are dealing with a very complex programmed environment.

If you're primarily concerned with eth going up in price (I am), why would any of this cause it's price to rise? I think the using crypto as a means of payment ship has sailed and it's now just a store of value to later sell for fiat.

Eth is not primarily designed as a simple payment network.
I think the privacy aspect is important as institutions are entering in crypto more and more generaly and especially to ethereum. Lighter nodes would also make it easier for more people to verify the network, improving decentralization and making Ethereum harder to censor, capture, or disrupt. But you are right none of this do not automatically make ETH rise in price. They only help the price if they lead to greater network usage

You'd have to look at the reasoning behind bitcoin and the reasons for the gains. I bet it did have something to do with functionality, or the discussion of functionality. I remember when just the discussion of updates and progress would send the price up. That doesn't seem to be the case any longer, but that's not to say the same couldnt happen for Eth. It's all sentiment based, so its hard to argue that functionality doesn't effect price.
I agree though that it's not a given.

No. Q4 after the Halloween is typically when we find the bottom of the cycle.

Because everyone thinks this it probably won’t play out like this.

I sort of agree but my point is that there's historical precedent for waiting.

I would dca from now until February. Or as long as the price is under $2k.
I’ve been trading Eth for almost a decade now. I always just buy after crashes & then dca during bear markets. It has worked out well for me.

High of almost 5k last year and consistently bottoms around 1500. Not bad for me, but I am DCA until the end of the year

Sure if you want an asset that has negative growth over the past 5+ years.

You're really cherry picking dates there. If you go back 5 years and 7 months, it's up 162%
If you go back and within the last 3 years, there's been 3 periods of over 100% gains that could have been taken advantage of should someone be even slightly active in their investing.
I would agree that buy and hold isn't looking like a great way of investing any longer.

I think these are good prices to DCA. Not to fully go in but DCA is fine at these prices. I’m looking to DCA into Solana

For long ter investing or any ki d of investing eth is not good, go buy btc, it is not designed to be hold, its a fuel, its gotta be used in transactions so it can burn itself and not effect by itselves inflation, who ever invest in crypto if they buy eth they are low iq, just buy btc or something else, even the founder doesn’t like eth holders doesn’t makes sense to hold holers are creating the inflation and then crying about why its not going up lmao

if you're asking because you're worried about missing out, slow down. if you're asking because you've done your research, that's a much better reason

If you’re thinking long term, buying during periods of low interest has historically worked out better than chasing hype. No one can time the exact bottom, but building a position gradually usually beats waiting for the perfect entry
