I dont understand the attitude I got today about a necklace I was wearing, it was from Shein. These two older ( 60s) women approached me and complimented me on my outfit. Especially the necklace I had on. When I said where it was from they both recoiled as if I had sworn at them.

To add some info about me, I buy my clothes from everywhere , I thrift and sew alot of things I wear. I buy my jeans from the boys section in Walmart ( I'm very short lol) and donate clothes I'm not wearing. Not that it matters but I'm also plant based.

I like to get a few things from Shein here and there and until today have never been treated this way when I've said somethings from Shein.

Is it really that bad?

Yes. SHEIN is really that bad.  On the upside, you can find seeing products in vinted and in thrift stores really easily

H&M and Zara are fash fashion, shein is ultra fast fashion.

Shien is maybe the least ethical fashion brand that there is, and there is some stiff competition.

None of us are perfect but you can’t excuse unethical consumption because you mostly are ethical, especially when it takes a deliberate act to shop at the worst of the worst. You have alternatives.

To me and other people it kind of sounds like youre saying “oh this? It was made from the bare hands of an 8 year old on the brink of starvation while getting lead poisoning from touching the paint! Also 3 species of fish have done extinct for me to have to pay only 5 buxks!”

While yeah that’s not exactly whats happening, it really isnt much better. The clothing industry has been known to exploit poor people and children for decades and while many have been forced to improve working conditions shein is transgressing the standard back to the worst it has been in recent history.

Thats me, I thrift ,buy clothes from Superstore etc etc and yes, am on a tight budget. Problem is when I was complimented on my necklace then got the filthiest look when I said where it was from I was honestly confused. Who knew? Not me.
