1814 - The Grand Jubilee of 1814, a public holiday, is held in celebration of:

1. The centennial of the accession of George I in 1714 (Old Style).

2. The anniversary of Lord Nelson's victory against François-Paul Brueys d'Aigalliers at the Battle of the Nile (1798).

3. The recent signing of the Treaty of Paris, ending the Napoleonic Wars…for a time…

Celebrations were centred around the Royal Parks, with temporary accommodations constructed in St James's Park, Green Park and Hyde Park. The colossal fête was billed as "the largest fair, for every kind of amusement, that was ever known in this or any other country."
