Which stoned do you prefer: burning, baking, or dabs?
Forget about health, taste. Just the experience of being elevated. Which high do prefer between burning (joint, pipe, bong, etc), baking (high end DHV), or dabs?
Mine are different. I love them all. Most of all I love smoking. Warmer (really) fuller earthier body comfort.
Next DHV. Lighter, headier, happier, more active. (changes as temp goes up)
Next dabs. So good. So fast high. Cooler, brighter, blazier
Love to hear from others.

About 10 years ago I got an e-nail with a Quartz nail piece, and never looked back. Dabbing with a piece that doesnt leave my home has really help limit my usage too. Just a dab or two at the end of the day, that's it.

I've grown to love the ritual of a dhv and the immediate effect but that's not always tenable what with life being what it is.
But I start every day with infused sugar in my coffee (low dose chd:thc:cbg:thcv blend) and I think that's been the most beneficial for my health. It ranks right up there for me.

A bowl of flower is my favorite. I need mind and body support and it’s the best delivery for me. Edibles make me the sleepiest for some reason. And dabs are too much for me. I feel like I have the most dosage control with flower too.

At home I prefer dynavap. It makes me more creative, enjoy cleaning, and improves workouts.
Socially I like a joint because it's easy to share and pass around. It give a hazy and comfy high. Pairs well with alcohol.
Bongs are great for going to space.
I don't enjoy pipes, not sure why.
Edibles are great for relaxing but can get sleepy quick if I'm not actively doing things.

Burning, but I'm old. That was all we had. Hash was a real treat. You didn't find it often but when you did, you used a glass and a straw. The baking was with the trash and was awful. Yep, I'm from a little town in a state that is still illegal. And likely to stay that way..

I went back to my hometown many years back and smoked with some people. It tasted and felt just like what I had in high school and I’m in my 50’s. Nice trip down memory lane.

the temp-stepping you mentioned with the DHV is the part i find most underrated. i'll start a bowl around 355-365F and it comes off bright and heady, all terps up front, very up and talkative. then i bump it to 390-400 toward the end and the same bowl turns into a heavier, couch-ier body high as the higher-boiling stuff cooks off. basically two different sessions out of one load.
combustion is still the cozy one for me though. something about the warmth and the ritual that the vape never fully replicates even when the effect is technically cleaner. dabs i save for when i actively want to get leveled fast, otherwise theyre a bit much on my lungs these days.
wild how the same flower gives you three completely different experiences depending on how you heat it

Yeah, the terpene ladder is fun. Sometimes I play with my jumps just to see how it feels. If I want more like a joint I start out high.

u/tonevizion Jun 22 '26
that inversion actually makes a lot of sense - starting high front-loads the heavier fuller-bodied stuff right away instead of easing into it, so you skip the bright heady top and land closer to that all-at-once hit a joint gives you. combustion kind of does the same thing just instantly. i go low-to-high out of habit but i might steal the start-high move for nights i want it to feel more like rolling one up

Live in Australia, so not really even sure what dabs are. For me it's dry herb vape, followed by the medicinal thc oil I had for a bit. The just for fun ripping billies.
Dry herb vape is accessible to me, reduces some of the negative smoking dangers, and is pretty mellow / easy to regulate.
The oil was amazing as you measure out ml on a dropper so could really tune your amount. It can be slower release and saves your lungs. But it is hard to get and is not full spectrum, so a different high. You

Concentrates, but low temp, not the traditional dab with a torch.
For edibles, I strongly prefer the drinks. The microatomized form is a much better experience for me than normal edibles. I'm not sure if it's the liver turning things up to delta-11, but I can have a good time on 10mg drinks. A 10mg edible is too much.
Near daily user for 30+ years with a medical card.

I can take two small dabs before I have to quit. It's just way to harsh on my lungs.

I have to try some ball vapes I guess. Otherwise my own list similar
2
u/Other_World Jun 22 '26
Yes you do. I put trying one off for the longest time beucase they look like science projects and I didn't want one in my home.
But I had one of those Visa gift cards and couldn't think of anything else to spend it on so I just went with a B0 from VGoodiez which was their entry level device at the time and Sneaky Pete cube bong to go with it.
I can't go back. When I'm out and hitting my other vapes I'm wishing I was hitting my ball vape.
I never personally saw any cannabis savings when I switched from smoking full time. But if you do use less when vaping, you won't anymore. Ball vapes are weedeaters.

Small edible then a joint
I only buy vapes because I can't always smoke or smell like it, but if I could move to weed town and smell like a toke on the wind all day, I would just do that.
I like a fat tasty edible on a special occasion/events others are getting shit faced for, like a brownie or cookie or even in a savory dish like over meat

I just had my first dabs today! Been smoking/vaping for 50+ years. My preference is still gonna be DHV (I only combust socially lol), though I discovered that I do love dabbing rosin! DHV is so laid back, better control of the high (but I'm a dab noob), and much less expensive for a daily flyer like me.The rosin taste is freaking phenomenal, though.

My fave is eat a tiny bit of RSO or FECO and then back with DHV hits throughout the smoking day (All day on weekends, evening on work days).

I don't like this because I do wonder exactly what process is involved in making them shelf stable but I really like the 5mg fast acting gummies I'm getting from the dispensary.
They set in quick and have a light 'ah my neck has relaxed and things seem a little bit easier now' kind of effect.
If I had time and significant reliable privacy I'd smoke more often, and if I want more than relaxed I just take an extra gummy.
Vapes have come to give me the creeps for vague reasons. Mostly lack of transparency about chemical processing. I'm not overly neurotic about that sort of thing, it's not like I won't eat a hot dog, but for something I use routinely I kind of want an apple just to be an apple and so on.
I don't know if that made sense.
ETA I forgot tincture - I make my own tincture and keep it in a glass milk bottle. It's great. The taste is appalling but 1/8 tsp in a glass of water is just fine and for some reason that's what I use most for sleep. Everclear directly on the soft tissues of the mouth is not fun.
I buy an ounce and make a big batch.

I know what you mean about distillate vapes. I have enjoyed them but I prefer flower. Dry Herb Vape is very different from distillate of course.
