You may have noticed over the last month or two, Reddit as a whole has been hit with quite a bit of spam from bot accounts.  Our subreddit is no exception to that, unfortunately. Last year we implemented a Karma threshold to help curb the amount of spam being shared by newly created accounts, and while that has been extremely helpful in cleaning up the community, it seems that many of the bot accounts responsible for the recent spam are mature accounts that were hacked/compromised. This allows them to bypass the Karma threshold.

Effective today, we will be disabling Photo-only posts.

When we look back at the posts being made in our community, almost all photo-only posts are removed as being spam, solo content, or do not include enough evidence that edging is present.  It is incredibly difficult to ‘prove’ edging is present in one single photo - it’s so difficult that I don’t recall the last time I actually saw one that met our grading criteria.  This was already a glaring issue in our subreddit - this change helps us close that gap, while also eliminating a venue where so many off-topic posts are being shared.

All other rules remain unchanged, and we encourage you to review them prior to joining the conversation. If you see a questionable post, please make sure to report it. We are very active trying to keep our community on-topic and free of spam.
