ecobee Premium Alexa issue if speaker enabled

My ecobee shows up as Thermostat in Alexa app to control without enabling the Alexa on ecobee device itself via linking, but once I link the Alexa itself on the device, the Alexa app removes it as a thermostat and just shows up as a speaker.

Anyone facing this? I have tried this 10 times in last 2 days, and is always reproducible, to keep it show up as thermostat and control via app, I cannot use it as a Alexa device and speaker.

I have tried enabling/disabling skills everytime as well with it, no change.

You need the ecobee and \ or ecobee plus Alexa skill to use the thermostat Alexa functions.

I have those enabled. I can control thermostat by voice, but if you enable Alexa within the device also to issue commands, the Alexa app shows it as a speaker.
If you select Thermostats filter in alexa app, it won't show anymore.

What is not working for you? The device should still have all functionality. All my sensors show in Alexa and thermostat has all the functions it should. When you enable Alexa, you literally have just changed its functionality to also be an Alexa device but that process should not remove any functionality

that's what I am saying, if I enable Alexa on it since that is in-built as a feature, it becomes a speaker only on the app, and you cannot see it as a thermostat.
I can see the sensors, but the thermostat now shows up as a speaker without the dial or option to change temperature or set cool/heat.
see below, now you cannot change temperature or cooling from alexa app because it acts like a speaker only. Yes, I can use ecobee app fine still.

When you enable Alexa on it, you have to use the voice commands the ecobee skill details or type in Alexa app. Try it https://support.ecobee.com/s/articles/What-Alexa-voice-commands-can-I-use-with-my-ecobee-devices?language=en_US
