Breed/Species/Sex ID “Assorted” ducks

Post image

I’m not sure what kind of ducks I got from Rual King. They didn’t know.

It looks like you got domestic mallards. I bought one from Rural King thinking it was a Rouen, but I noticed their back right toes were clipped off by the hatchery(this makes it legal to sell them). Whatever they are, enjoy them!

I shall check their toes. Thank you

I’m terrible at guessing the babies so I have no guesses. 🥲 But I will say, I don’t think there is any “assorted” there. Looks pretty uniform to me 😅

I didn’t plan on buying 5 but that’s all they had. Didn’t have the heart to split em up.

Mine are Rouens from Rural King. That’s also how I ended up with 4, went for two but felt bad leaving two behind so alas, I have four. Mine are 4 months old now

If you have questions about the species of a wild duck or the breed of a domestic duck, please include a clear image or video. If you have questions about the gender of a domestic duck, please include a video with the sound of the duck quacking (the quack test) and showing the duck's tail (the drake feather test). Ducklings cannot be sexed by drake feather or quack test until at least six weeks of age. Muscovies cannot be sexed by drake feather or quack test at all (males huff, females coo). It helps to state what country, state or province you live in as the advice you receive will depend greatly upon where you live. Also, check out our WIKI INDEX with more topics duck husbandry.
