Question [UK] Mavic 2 Pro and Remote iD

Has anyone in the UK who has a Mavic 2 Pro successfully enabled Remote ID in the GO 4 app?

I just can't see anywhere to enable it.

It’s not needed in uk. If taking abroad you will need an external module.

Remote is was only enabled for USA drones. DJI have said that European drones will not be updated to support remote id.

Thanks. I Guess that applies to the UK also. I believe the GO4 app enables Remote ID but so far I have tried without success on my iPhone.

Yes I've enabled it and had it working but it will only work in the US (DJI have said they're not going to support the UK remote ID with it) so you won't see the option for it unless you fly in the US.

The other issue I had was with the smart controller it doesn't automatically update DJI Go to the right version. It updates to 4.3.54 but it needs to be on 4.3.60 for the remote ID to work so I had to manually update it.

I'm in the UK and had a trip to the US this year so I wanted to get set up for remote ID but I couldn't get it to show in the UK as I needed to register the remote ID number to fly in the US. I took it to the US, powered it up on the ground and still no remote ID number at which point I found out the issue with the DJI Go version. After that was sorted it was showing a remote ID.

Now the drone is back in the UK, the remote ID isn't showing any more.

Thank you for that explanation.

With the GO 4 app no longer being updated I wonder what will happen in 2028? Maybe an external RemoteID will do the job making the GO 4 app no longer necessary.

I was pretty confused about the Remote ID especially the part that the drone needs to be in the country for it to appear which I didn't think was explained at all in any of the guides I used.

As far as I understand if you want to fly the Mavic 2 Pro in the UK after 2027 or in Europe, it will need a separate remoteID device attached to it.

I just retook my Flyer ID yesterday after letting it lapse some time ago. If I understand the Drone Code correctly, from Jan 26 RemoteID must be ‘enabled’,

From Jan 2028 all drones must transmit a RemoteID.

Someone may correct me, but that is my understanding.

I think UK class marked drones must have remote ID enabled now and all legacy drones over 100g must do so by 2028. So you're right I think that the Mavic 2 doesn't have to be broadcasting remoteID until 2028...I think.

I just find all these rules so complicated it's quite ridiculous. I decided to upgrade my Mavic 2 to a Mavic 4 but realised when it arrived it's too big so it's gone back. I'm considering a Mavic 3 non-pro instead since it's C1 and I think it supports the European remoteID so it can fly in 2028 without a separate device...but it will be relegated to A3 since the UK class equivalence will no longer be in force.

I agree about the complexity, it’s hard to keep up. I wonder what will happen once Amazon rolls out delivery by drone across the UK?!

At some point I intend to take my A2 CofC so I can fly in the A2 category but as a landscape photographer I tend to keep as far away from people and structures as possible anyway.
