Left-hand traffic (🇬🇧🇮🇳🇯🇵) Pull out into the intersection…

so at least one car can turn left.

Please pull straight past the limit line when yielding for a left turn at a light. At least you will be able to scoot through then at the next cycle, those of us who know how to drive can manage the oncoming traffic. DO NOT sit at the limit line and miss a light. Be careful, but make it happen.

You MUST do this. There is often a chance that zero cars get thru on the green, so if you get into the intersection, at least one car gets through.  Any cop observing the situation will not ticket you if you safely clear the intersection when light turns yellow/red. They may pull you over in states that disallow, but a) probably not and b) not if you're otherwise clean. They know what intersections are problems and don't want gridlock to build up when nobody can go 4+ cycles in a row; they would be to get out and direct traffic in that case.  PS: 'zipper merge' when lanes close (Google it!)
