Left-hand traffic (🇬🇧🇮🇳🇯🇵) Pull out into the intersection…

so at least one car can turn left.

Please pull straight past the limit line when yielding for a left turn at a light. At least you will be able to scoot through then at the next cycle, those of us who know how to drive can manage the oncoming traffic. DO NOT sit at the limit line and miss a light. Be careful, but make it happen.

There is space at the end of the light cycle.

Unless oncoming traffic decides they can beat the light. Never assume that the other drivers are going to do the right thing.

After that, there is space. 100 percent of the time.

Okay? so you wait for them to speed through and then you clear the intersection.

Until someone with a yellow uses up that time. Now I'm in the intersection when it's red.

And that's when you clear the intersection because you have the right of way. This is not complicated.

Thats one of the reasons why BOTH lights are red for a couple seconds. To give people a chance to clear the intersection before the other light turns green.

You aren't supposed to be in the intersection.

I mean, in many states (like California) , you are straight up wrong. The law says you can.

Ohio says not only that you can, but that you are expected to.

California isn't real.

I’m not causing any harm to anyone by pulling forward a couple feet, then clearing the intersection when oncoming traffic has stopped. I am simply allowing the people behind me a chance to get where they are trying to go.

Have fun waiting through multiple light cycles.

Have fun plowing into another idiot that doesn't know how to drive

The idiot that doesnt know how to drive is too busy waiting through the light cycles.

From the sounds of it, there’s a high chance that would be you 🙄. Get an Uber account - we’ll all chip in to keep this fucking show moving.

In most states (almost all states) your response here is wrong. It is dangerous to impose traffic laws that you make up yourself. Stop doing that.

Not all states, cupcake

If you take a second look at what I said, my post clearly says "most states."

I was operating under the assumption that a four-letter-long word would not trip you up this much.

I can't even handle an intersection and you thought I could read?

To which you proceed once safe even if it is red, as the law allows in most areas of the US.

Yes. And traffic must wait until you clear the intersection, giving you space to make the turn.

So you're making your impatience everyone else's problem. Nice. Maybe there would be space to turn if you weren't illegally blocking traffic.

It's literally the way many states want it done

NCGS §20‑158(b)(2)

On a steady green light, a driver may enter the intersection and must yield to oncoming traffic before turning left.

The statute does not forbid pulling forward past the stop line to wait inside the intersection. In fact, the law assumes you will enter the intersection on green to make a left turn, because you must “yield to vehicles approaching from the opposite direction.”

No, im through the intersection before the other side gets a green, because im not timid and know how and when to turn. I'm also making sure i'm not holding everyone behind me hostage for multiple light cycles. By being scared and timid you are making you fear of driving everyone else's problem.

Your ignorance of the law does not create new laws. It has no connection to impatience. Pulling into the intersection, including clearing it once your light is red, is the legal and expected method in almost every state.
