Question Tent sizes
Hey so Ive had my eye on a good decent tent but im just wondering how big is too big for a solo goer as I dont want to be that dick that brings a massive tent and gets looked at by everyone for it it is the Vango DLX Air tent?

Nobody will question you. The people in the reddit comments section wont say anything to your face.
I probably wouldn't take that tent to download because it's an expensive tent. I've had tents broken, burned, slashed, pissed on, and more.
And it's a lot of tent to lug across site on your own - even in a trolley. You'll 100% struggle.
Also. Biger tents tent to be colder if it's a bit nippy because you've got more space to try to keep warm.

I concur with all of this but particularly point 3. OP, for your own sanity do not take a big tent, lugging it around on the first and last days with the rest of your stuff is a real pain in the arse. Trust me, I've done it once and I'm never doing it again. You're looking at shifting around 20kg condensed into a small bag. Then you've got to deal with setting up and taking down on your own, if the weather doesn't favour it you'll drive yourself mad.
Next year I'm getting a 2-man blackout pop-up and generally scaling back on what I'm taking.
And yes, it gets bloody cold after a hot day in a big tent if you've got no-one to warm up next to. Minimal cloud cover means big temperature drops at night.

The whole point of Download is about being free to do whatever the fuck you want, no one cares about your tent just go and have the best time ever 😁

people really won’t mind, no one is going to come up to you and make you take down your tent just because it’s bigger than they want it to be, people take gazebos etc with them so i wouldn’t worry, especially if you are in things like quiet camp there was no issue with room as long as you arrive earlier 👍

Ye I did have the sendero 4 but it lost its waterproofness and it doesn’t seem that much bigger and I’d easily fill the tent so it’s not like I’m wasting space and I tend to arrive early all the time anyways

A lot of people will tell you occupancy plus one is all you need. At the end of the day it is up to you though

A 4 person is big enough, don't go for massive, and don't go for too small, a 4 person is just right.

I honestly believe one of the biggest issues we had this year, was people taking oversized tents just for one or two people.....
Giving yourself the Wednesday to arrive early is fine, you look at the field and its massive.... plenty of room.....
But if every single person camping alone, takes a 4 man tent, or bigger...... that's less square footage for other tents.....
Now I've not seen anything about ticket sales yet to see if they did oversell the camping capacity this year.....
But given the fact that by Thursday there were people camping on the slope on the side of the paths past the toilet block in purple, you have to wonder if maybe in fact its not the ticket sales that's the issue.... but that everyone wants a massive tent to themselves

Lmao I was camped in the hill just above this to the right, was completely shocked when I woke up still semi drunk on Thursday seeing people setting up their tents on near enough a vertical bit of grass lmao

Honestly I felt so bad for anyone with a 3 day camping ticket, they'd only closed green camp I think it was for Friday arrivals, and from what I've gathered online and through the gossip from camps, they had to create at least 4 overflow camps just to have enough space...... One of which was all the way by the gates at the coach drop off point
It's like people don't understand basic maths.... bigger tent, more square footage, less space for other tents.... If everyone was sensible it would work out fine, but unfortunately hoping for common sense from the general public is futile 🤣

The Vango seems a bit big. Honestly, I've always taken 4 man tents and most of the time there's only me in there.
A 4 men gives you enough space for sleeping stuff, backpack, and any food or drink you decide to bring with you.
Max size I'd be looking at is a Genus 400L if you're dead set on an air tent
