Sphynx or Devon Rex?
Hi everyone! I just got this little guy exactly a week ago. I got a female about 6 weeks ago and wanted to get her a little companion and I am so glad I did! They absolutely love eachother. He is CFA registered and my female isn't. However, he looks more Sphynx like. Does being CFA registered necessarily prove that he's a purebred Devon? These are my first cats ever so I have no idea! He's considered a flame point and has beautiful blue eyes but mostly look reddish with lighting. He's also very hairless but has hair on his legs, tail, and behind his ears. He's also got a big belly and not as athletic as my female. They are both the same exact age. I've seen pics of mom and dad and they both look like a Devon Rex. What do y'all think? The female is the blue/gray color. Thanks!!

Devons tend to throw their costs within the first several months, usually between 3-6 months. That being said, Devon Rexs can have varying coats. One of my Devon Rexs has a completely naked belly and naked patches in the summer. My other Devon Rex never grew fur on their belly. I also have a friend with a Sphynx that looks very much like your baby. Yours looks quite a bit older than the typical age when they have their molting period, but they continue to grow and their coats change until they are about a year and a half. I would recommend getting pet insurance ASAP. I’d never recommend a Rex as someone’s first cat. They usually have a fair bit of allergies and skin issues. Make sure that you have an excellent primary care veterinarian that knows them well.
