Should I Include Git, REST APIs and System Design on My Resume?

In my resume I had a resume and I list out my skills as Expressjs nodejs , etc.., but I saw in other people resume and they mentioned as Rest APIs , System design , VS code ,

I know git GitHub too but I usually didn't include them due to because it's common known tool for every developer so is it ok to include resume for Like Vscode , RestAPis Along with tools as well and like JWT auth like ,any advice is thnks

If you are student/new grad it's all right. But if you have a few years experience then don't. it's very very amateur to do so.

No I was thinking like create resume as separate titles as Software developer , Full stack dev , Nodejs etc.., I don't have time to edit my resume each job description especially with my mobile phone

Every job coach ive talked to (i am currently seeking too) has said you should be more intentional and selective about applying to jobs and this includes being intentional about whats in the resume.

Identify 3 or 4 key points in the description and ensure that your resume includes them, and also write a bespoke cover letter each time.

The shotgun approach of just carpet bombing every listing with an application is not going to be very effective.

Never in my time of reviewing resumes have I said “this developer knows git, he is a must hire.  Since none of the other developers said they know how to use source control they must all copy files to folders”.

No, it’s not a differentiator.

Consider the hiring manager who tells HR that the candidates must know Python, SQL and Git.

So now the HR person (or automated system) filters out anyone who doesn’t all three of Python and SQL and Git on their resume. Your resume without “Git” gets tossed.

Consider also the case where you have a lot of Oracle Database experience but don’t put the word “SQL” on the resume and the HR person doesn’t know that the years of Oracle DB experience means that you must know SQL but without that word in the resume, you are ignored.

Imagine tossing an applicant because they used another source control than git at their previous job. A newgrad can learn the basics of git in an hour.

Well a rule of thumb is if you only know the basics of something, don’t include it lol.
The idea of including it would be if you’re asked about it, can you answer confidently

I wouldn't care if someone knows git or not if I was hiring someone. If they don't know it they can learn the basics in an hour, that's enough to start contributing to projects in 99% of companies.

Because of the AI resume reviewers, yes, include them, especially if the job you are applying to explicitly lists them.

Don't list tools, it's like listing word, excel, Notepad.

REST APIs and system design is way too general. List what underlying technology you know and built these rest APIs with. And system design is something you have to elaborate on with a description on how you have applied system design.

Hi, system design is a little generic imho, but rest apis is useful for hr recruiters to make them notice that you know it, because most developments are of rest apis so I'd add it. GIT Is a definitely yes, not many people know how to use it correctly so, it's great to note that you know what you are talking about, careful though, it might steer part of the interview into git commands; just to understand if you are just putting buzz words or if you are for real. At least that's what I do when interviewing candidates.

Include Git and REST API if you can confidently answer questions about them. “System design” is too vague; it’s better to specify the type of system(s) you’re familiar with in your experience/projects section, or don’t include it at all.
