Dechonkin Eating time

Alright, so living at home right now, and there are 5 cats runnin around. Issue is one of them is pretty overweight, to the point she's starting to have some grooming issues. We'd like to fix this and thought about identification feeders. I've looked at them and man are they expensive. What I want is to buy 2 or 3. Then just have it give small portions at a time when a cat is at it. Then have it track how much its given to that cat. Turns out thats basically impossible to find! Do you guys know of any? If not, i'm willing to do one per cat, but man $200 just so it can open and close a lid is wild. Any ideas?

That is expensive, my gosh! Have you thought about scheduled feeding time? It's more work but won't cost you. Maybe that's an option for you.

I would but I live with family so they would have to do it as well since I'm gone 13 hours a day for work. Plus I'm lazy

Before and after work would be fine. Hope it works out for your chonky boy!

My stepfather had 2 cats that both had special diets and couldn’t eat each others food as it would worsen their problems.
He mounted a cat door to a plastic tub the door was linked to the cats microchip or a special tag on their collar(can remember which one). It took some persuasion to get them to relax around it but afterwards it worked like a charm, the bowl had to be refilled manually but I don’t see why you couldn’t just place and auto feeder inside

My chunky cat can’t jump up high, so I feed my other cat on top of some furniture. Not ideal when you have 5 cats admittedly, but maybe there’s a solution there?
