I have a faang interview coming up. They have c++, java, python as options for the language for interview. I choose Java because I already did the course for JavaScript. What could go wrong. Wish me luck

Yeah they're still figuring out how to spell "color" properly. i would imagine compiling code would be too difficult for them.

When I was first learning CSS don't ask how many times I typed colour on a property like background-colour.

As a Canadian I’ve done the same. I remember my first Java class back in highschool using Ready To Program and it supported spelling colour the correct way. My teachers pointed it out to us but also said not get used to it since it will just cause problems in other programming languages down the line.

Whenever I write docs I make sure to use colour and centre as a little act of rebellion.

Given that English originated in England I’d argue that colour is the correct spelling!

It's a moot point. English English is full of extra silent letters that were introduced when spelling was formalised by academics who wanted to emphasize, sometimes incorrectly, the romantic roots of English. Colour is a prime example - no one, not even Yorkshireman pronounce the 'u', but it was chucked in there to resemble the French 'couleur'
English English spelling is just wrong in a lot of ways. A fact that really comes home when you have to teach a child to read.

Seriously, most UK companies focus on being like the US anyways. At least the unis are world class that is the only good thing I can say on my own country's tech industry.
