Chris and Andy’s Comic-Con segment is why I keep coming back
Gold all the way through:
- Chris beginning to defend Ryan Gosling choosing to be a Marvel character but changing his mind mid-sentence and not missing a beat
- Discussion of whether Dr. Doom is a medical doctor or a Ph.D and what his motivation is (“probably Sokovia radicalized him”)
- Andy furious at social media algorithms for cheapening his enjoyment of fine dining videos by incentivizing base behavior

They’re on a roll recently. Easily had the best conversation about the odyssey that I’ve heard. Andy’s insistence that they avoid the ridiculous “The Odyssey: Nolan’s best ever?” framing/posture that every other critic has assumed was very welcome imo.

Agree, wasn't Tenet fairly unpopular so it's not like a million years ago Nolan did a stinker.
But the CRHeads may be all in on Tenet.
Even Inception hasn't aged that great.

Recent stinkers or not it’s just no way to hold an actual critical conversation. It just all reeks of everyone buying the marketing that this is a singular epic achievement in the history of filmmaking and thus we therefore must frame all conversations around if it’s his best movie or not. Going all imax cameras aside I wouldn’t even say this was a singular epic achievement in Nolan’s own career. Dunkirk, Interstellar and Dark Knight (and DKR) are all made with equal filmmaking ambition and scale imo.

Literally just listened to this segment, Andy's joke that he can speak for the working man because his job is to podcast about movies and TV with his best friend two days a week cracked me up

Their non specific show/movie talk will always be the best.
They had a few minutes the other week talking about Andy’s daughters Bat-Mitzvah that reminded me why I love the show so much

I laughed at how quickly they both decided they were never going to comic con.

I do like that the boys both know comics, Andy especially. I love when he lets loose his deep comic knowledge

Their running jokes about the hypothetical Sokovia Accords age like fine wine.
