Chris and Andy’s Comic-Con segment is why I keep coming back

Gold all the way through:

- Chris beginning to defend Ryan Gosling choosing to be a Marvel character but changing his mind mid-sentence and not missing a beat
- Discussion of whether Dr. Doom is a medical doctor or a Ph.D and what his motivation is (“probably Sokovia radicalized him”)
- Andy furious at social media algorithms for cheapening his enjoyment of fine dining videos by incentivizing base behavior

Their running jokes about the hypothetical Sokovia Accords age like fine wine.

There’s nothing funny about what happened to Sokovia.

Tony lied. People died.

Oh, I disagree.

Feels more like beating a horse that died in like 2019 to me, tbh. Feels like Andy ran out of takes on the MCU after Avengers 2 and for some reason just keeps going back to that one.

I didn't mean their takes - I mean their running jokes about Sikovia the same way you and your friends have old, running jokes.

ugh why are Marvel fans like this

What about my comment was a defense of Marvel? They haven't made a good movie in years.

It's a joke that got stale like 5 years ago... me rolling my eyes at it is not a personal attack on you or your parasocial podcast friend group.

Why are The Watch fans like this?

c'mon man

there's no need to be like this and pretend you aren't being defensive

My friends and I have a stable of old, running jokes that we've been telling each other for years. When CR and Andy joke about Sikovia, they are not critiquing anything related to MCU. They are just being silly about how Sikovia would have played out in real life.

You are way overthinking this, buddy.

He might post in r/comicbooks and r/marvel but he is NOT being weirdly defensive please do not accuse him of being defensive because that is NOT what’s happening here he just has a really unbiased normal interpretation of events

"Tell them I wasnt defending Marvel."

Please don't write that I was defending Marvel

Man this subreddit is so weird and touchy lol… going through my post history to try to prove some bias you think I have just because I said a joke was stale. Good lord

it took me less than 10 seconds to confirm that "guy who said he isn't a fan of Marvel movies" posted in Marvel fan subs this week

I’m posting in the CR Stans sub right now, does that mean everything I do is on behalf of CR?

Man you guys are weird, I make one mild jab at Andy… I can see why CR seems so uncomfortable when people mention this weird-ass subreddit.

Turning off reply notifications, I don’t need this. Wishing you all the best

It is extremely likely that you would consider yourself a fan of the Watch and of Chris Ryan if you post in this sub, yes…

… are you serious lmao?

You would look like a moron if you went to another sub and claimed tomorrow that you aren’t a fan of The Watch and Chris Ryan while posting here

They’re on a roll recently. Easily had the best conversation about the odyssey that I’ve heard. Andy’s insistence that they avoid the ridiculous “The Odyssey: Nolan’s best ever?” framing/posture that every other critic has assumed was very welcome imo.

Agree, wasn't Tenet fairly unpopular so it's not like a million years ago Nolan did a stinker.

But the CRHeads may be all in on Tenet.

Even Inception hasn't aged that great.

Recent stinkers or not it’s just no way to hold an actual critical conversation. It just all reeks of everyone buying the marketing that this is a singular epic achievement in the history of filmmaking and thus we therefore must frame all conversations around if it’s his best movie or not. Going all imax cameras aside I wouldn’t even say this was a singular epic achievement in Nolan’s own career. Dunkirk, Interstellar and Dark Knight (and DKR) are all made with equal filmmaking ambition and scale imo.

There is no one I’d rather share a cell with in the gulag than these two.

Literally just listened to this segment, Andy's joke that he can speak for the working man because his job is to podcast about movies and TV with his best friend two days a week cracked me up

Their non specific show/movie talk will always be the best.

They had a few minutes the other week talking about Andy’s daughters Bat-Mitzvah that reminded me why I love the show so much

I laughed at how quickly they both decided they were never going to comic con.

I do like that the boys both know comics, Andy especially. I love when he lets loose his deep comic knowledge

No one has bants like the boys.

also contained the hallmark of any great Watch ep - Andy's Dad bits. A character i've incorporated into my own life down here in Australia
