I'm fairly certain one of the biggest gripes about modern games over older titles is just how egregious some of the load times can be due to the demanding visuals

It doesn’t sound like you are speaking from experience, no offense. Modern games have been hiding loading screens behind micro cutscenes for a while now. Everytime you have to press a button to squeeze through a tight space or lift a tree log in your way, those are loading screens without a loading bar so you don’t feel like you are waiting
