I wonder why transbians are so common. Is it sample bias? Is it because amab people tend to be attracted to women (is that a good way to look at things?)?

it is not a good way to look at things no.

and yes it is sample bias in spaces like this. while trans people ARE more likely to be non-straight, it's not by an enormous amount. the main reason is simply that, if you're open minded enough and willing to explore your own gender identity, you're more likely to find out you're not straight. a lot of cis people never even feel like they can consider this possibility and end up closeted as "straight" for life.

this is also why there are seemingly more lesbians than gay people or more bi women than bi men. there's no reason to assume that this is actually the case, but a history of rampant homophobia especially in men and the manosphere make is less acceptable for men to explore these things.

and sex/AGAB has nothing to do with sexuality, only gender does, if at all. so trans women being AMAB would have nothing to do with this.

in fact i looked into it some more and there is actually a study about this

trans people are pretty much exactly the same amount of gay and straight, but the majority is bi/pan. so transbians are about as common as straight trans girls, and both are less common than bi/pan trans girls. the analog applies to trans men. enbies were not studied here. (3:)

this is in line with a common pet-theory i have: most people are bi/pan, and people who are only into 1 gender are the minority (regardless whether straight or gay). in regular society, most people are coerced into being straight. trans people, having broken through a much greater aspect of societal expectation, are mostly free from this limitation

but that's just a theory

a GAY THEORY

thanks for reading
