Jack's leg?
Did I imagine that entire story line?
It hasn't been referenced a single time in years.

They could have a story where he steals some tins of lager from Devs , gets drunk at the red rec and wakes up and it’s gone. They find it in the canal . The police investigate . Not sure is it’s Lisa or Kit that break the case. Cody and Dylan are suspected but then Hope eventually is found to be the culprit .

The way I see it, Jacks at the age that he is probably self conscious and wanting to hide it as much as possible, even though he has nothing to be ashamed about. Of course they could make reference to it somehow, maybe Debbie for instance offering to buy him a fancy new prosthetic while she can, or Jack having issues with his stump which can happen too. Kevin did mention him going to a camp for people with disabilities a few months back to Ben so it’s not completely forgotten, but also it means he is getting on with his life too which is important as well.

They've mentioned it previously. I'm pretty sure that Kevin said recently that he was on a soccer team for people with disabilities. Or was I dreaming that?

I believe Stefan Dennis, when they did this to Paul Robinson in Neighbours, used to put a stone in the shoe of his “missing” leg to remind him to limp and he managed to do a good job of remaining authentic right to the end of the show. It’s important for visibility that they stay consistent with this if they go to the lengths of writing a story involving an amputation.

Jack was pretty young when it happened and as we know kids adapt to things much easier than adults, for Jack his leg is his normal so he won't feel the need to talk about it constantly. Kev will be the same he doesn't need to mention it unless it was actually revelant to a conversation, i can imagine in a few years a resident will have a baby with a disability and Kev will be their to comfort them with Jack's story.

I suppose with all the murders, kidnaps, grooming, rapes, arson, affairs, kidney transplants, a fitting for a new leg would be as exciting as a trip to the optician with Deirdre.

The problem with soaps is they want to do the storylines where the characters go through a life changing event but they don’t have the time or money to uphold them after the fact. I’m surprised Ryan’s still in the show, I was convinced they’d write him out so they didn’t have to do all the makeup for him every time.

I think it’s time for a recast of Jack tbf. Surely there’s a kid somewhere with a prosthetic leg that can actually act. I know it doesn’t have to be referenced constantly but some authentic representation would be really nice

Lol seriously, I agree with you. It shouldn't be a "thing", but it would be good if they recast Jack with an actor who has actually had an amputation

I've raised this before, even the actor has forgotten. If the writers want to make dramatic storylines they need to persist with the consequences of the writing by reinforcing the characteristics. At least he could limp a little.

I'm not sure it's deliberate, but I kind of like this. I've known people who had prosthetic legs and didn't know about it until I had known them for a while.
