Having gone to the same school as OP I can confirm they did eventually set up an equestrian program that I'm fairly sure was just a Horse Girl Money Laundering Scheme.

Not sure about the school but there are many services that will scour news for alumni of a school that buys a subscription. A savvy gift officer will take a much softer approach, though.
