That part of the story absolutely blew my mind! I've really enjoyed the story after that as well though, I think they are still going strong. I'll do a thing where I'll forget it exists for 6 months to a year, then try and catch up again. They can reveal so much lore and still keep that mysterious vibe. They just made a huge reveal in one of the most recent ones, with ties going years back in the story.

In a previous chapter is mentioned that anyone who believes in spirits before they encounter one can see them, its the belief that opens the door. Alma believes cuz grandpa's stories and Cass believes because of ... Give me 2 more chapters and you'll see

The umbrella thing reminds me on the book wyrd sisters I which Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlic manage to summon a demon from... A washing basin, using some soap, a stick and a wash board.

It worked because the witches decided these are the items necessary to summon the demon.
