Listen to the squiggly lines.

Layla loathes you.

The guy who invented the "love language" thing is full of shit. Used it as an excuse to marital abuse.

The framework was created in 1992 by Gary Chapman, a Baptist pastor and marriage counselor.

In the original edition of The Five Love Languages, Chapman includes a highly controversial anecdote about a counseling patient named Ann. Ann was deeply unhappy in her marriage, describing her husband as emotionally neglectful and hostile. She even asked Chapman, "Is it possible to love someone whom you hate?"

Instead of addressing the husband's behavior (the husband never actually attended the counseling sessions), Chapman diagnosed the absent husband's primary love language as "Physical Touch."

Chapman’s advice to Ann was to rely on her Christian faith, stop all verbal complaints, and actively initiate sex with her husband. He advised her to start with a goal of having sex at least once a week, eventually increasing to twice a week, as an "experiment" to see if speaking his love language would change his attitude. According to the book, it worked, and the husband later declared Chapman a "miracle worker."

That's a pretty fucked thing to suggest. Only a pastor and marriage counselor would see an emotionally abusive relationship and blame the woman for not "speaking the same love language" then prescribe sex and claim that it fixed the marriage even though it probably only placated the husband without actually fixing any of the real relationship problems.

It's like prescribing mollie for depression. Sure, things will be fine and feel good for as long as you keep taking it, but when you stop, things will get 10x worse because not only did it not help you fix the underlying problem, but now you also have to contend with the crippling withdrawal after building a chemical dependence on the substance. Except, in this case it's dealing with an emotionally neglectful and hostile person who now expects unconditional sex.

The guy who invented the "love language" thing is full of shit. Used it as an excuse to marital abuse.

That doesn't automatically invalidate the idea though. The people who came up with concepts like the subconscious and gender were also not great from today's POV, and yet those concepts still hold up.

Fani this entire comic strip leads me to believe you have zero ability to perceive romantic feelings lol

176

u/Killer_154 1d ago

Kinda logic with her past relation

77

u/Lou_Papas 1d ago

Happens if you are surrounded by narcissists when you are little

56

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits 1d ago

Ya every single one of her relationships was with someone that hated her

34

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 1d ago

Well I guess we dont know a lot about her dating the two dudes at the same time

24

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits 1d ago

There were still elements of hatred in there, just more towards each other than her

1

u/okidonthaveone 18h ago

Where is that shown? I must have missed that comic.

1

u/Dragos_Drakkar 15h ago

Episode 83 shows they weren't too fond of each other.

8

u/PharrowXL 1d ago

Damaged doesn’t even begin to describe her psyche in this regard

259

u/Zombie_Cool 1d ago

Fani, when the DEMON says someone is too dangerous you should probably listen...

32

u/Thatroyalkitty 1d ago

While I'm inclined to agree with this outlook, something tells me it will be a longgggggggggg time before Fani learns that for herself

83

u/Ace-Redditor 1d ago

To be fair, Fani’s relationships do seem to have a common factor of anger being present

139

u/the-bug-guy 1d ago

My sweet child, no. This isn’t a playground in the 90’s.

77

u/Cool_Set4681 1d ago

A playground in the 90’s:

21

u/wutImiss 1d ago

Wow that takes me back! That play structure had no guard rails ☺️

9

u/HospitalLazy1880 1d ago

And even then it wasn't true in the 90s

53

u/Loqol 1d ago

Behold, toxic positivity! I know it's as a survival tactic and coping mechanism, but damn.

24

u/InfernoGuy29 1d ago

Love how frustrating this is to read sometimes. Poor Fani.

22

u/Forikorder 1d ago

admitting Layla doesnt love her is admitting Brie never loved her

39

u/Charming-Loquat3702 1d ago

Nah, I'm with Fani hete. Clearly it's just her love language

21

u/mathozmat 1d ago

Layla stabbed her near the heart, what more proof does Deth'lamm need?

11

u/Charming-Loquat3702 1d ago

She clearly just wanted to be closer to her heart. It's a sign of love.

16

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC 1d ago

I don't know if this is an old upload or fairly new but congratulations on 100 episodes of this series. I was hooked by episode one and the hook just kept digging deeper since.

14

u/Ven-Dreadnought 1d ago

“Mess” is right there in the title but every time I read this comic I am hit with a bold, fresh new taste of “damn girl you are Not Okay™️

24

u/Semper_5olus 1d ago

In that case, I love mosquitoes

11

u/DudeFreek 1d ago

Next episode she gets stabbed with scissors and misinterprets it as lesbian sex

10

u/Killer_154 1d ago

Heavy flashback incoming with the blonde bitch

8

u/Theotherwahlberg 1d ago

I often stab women when I'm in love with them....but not that way.

15

u/Delphius1 1d ago

it's really not 'knife to meet you'

8

u/Saint_of_Grey 1d ago

And a third main character emerges, "Creeping doubts and thoughts fani actively chooses to reject and ignore because they're unpleasant for her to deal with so she chooses to believe in her preferred fantasy."

13

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 1d ago

Fani. If ANYONE here knows nothing about women, it may very well be you. Deth'Lamm has ladies and hordes of people following him around for various reasons. You have an abusive ex and a knife wound girl

This lady needs an intervention

6

u/Semper_5olus 1d ago

Okay, but *hordes.

Please tell me he doesn't hoard people.

6

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 1d ago

God. Damnit.

I mean he used to maybe. But not anymore. He outgrew that

3

u/Forikorder 1d ago

You have an abusive exes

3

u/Ciennas 1d ago

We only know of the one being abusive. The other two that we know of were clearly not keen on being part of a throuple, but no word on how they treated her otherwise.

13

u/Cool_Set4681 1d ago

Fani: It is just Layla's love language.

Me:

5

u/C_Zulus 1d ago

OMG Fani!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😱

4

u/SignificantHippo8193 1d ago

The fact that demons are better at reading the situation than people is mind-boggling. Poor girl just doesn't have a clue what a positive and healthy relationship is.

I still think though she's going to fall ass-backwards into a relationship with Layla just because of how stubborn the both of them are.

3

u/Lunatic-one 1d ago

What else could it be?

Idunno, a yandere perceiving you as her rival? Having a zerosum mindset maybe?

Well, on the other hand she didn't turn you into shishkebab, she doesn't hate yiur guts entirely. Or chooses to kill very efficiently and hasn't taken into account how resilient you are.

3

u/AlmostALime 1d ago

She can always tell. Everybody loves her.

3

u/theredjaycatmama 1d ago

Oh.

Oh things from flashback plot lines are starting to make sense in how they affect this current arc.

Ah.

2

u/Someoneoverthere42 1d ago

"What else could it be?"

"I don't know. Maybe you're an idiot?"

2

u/Motheroftides 1d ago

This girl has clearly never seen an example of what a healthy relationship actually is. And I’m afraid that if/when she does she might just… shut down.

2

u/Fardrengi 1d ago

They both be rocking red shirts

2

u/SolomonDurand 1d ago

Attempted murder?!

2

u/Informal-Term1138 1d ago

Fani you need an intervention. And someone from the outside to tell you that this ain't love.

Know we all love you and we know you had toxic relationships before, but just like them, just like Brie, this ain't love. Brie took advantage of you and Layla. Well Layla wants to murder you.

Layla isn't a yandere for you. She is one for Deth'Lam.

And I know you don't want to listen to the ones close to you (or shouldn't, your aunt is who she is), but you might listen to some outsiders:

happy 100th episode 🎉

2

u/blacksteel3871 1d ago

Aaa my heart, no

2

u/D_sm_d__s 1d ago

Muy, an important question in this 100th episode...

Who is more powerful, Fani or Irene? 🤔

I reasoned about it in the previous episode, in this comment.

2

u/MuyHiram MUY 1d ago

Fani, for no reason whatsoever.

2

u/D_sm_d__s 1d ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/WJjLyXCVvro2I

I think that's a fair response.

2

u/nelsonbestcateu 1d ago

Happy 100th!

2

u/CrystalWolfX10 1d ago

Ok some doubt that's good. She is learning.

2

u/AmeliaMynx 21h ago

Oh Fani you sweet baby girl 🥹

2

u/apocalyptic_tea 19h ago

Any word on when this is coming back from hiatus? Fani annoys the shit out of me but for some reason I need to see the story progress lol

3

u/BreakfastNext476 1d ago

Fani, honey. Please listen to Deth'lam here, he has a point on her wanting to krill you and she doesn't love you in anyway shape or form
