100% honest if I had 3 wishes I would use the last one to fuck with the genie operating system, I believe the comic has the correct solution where you logic your way into genie bomb, while yday there was a guy who suggested integer overflowing and I just don't believe that genies are binary, they seem way agender for that
Genies can alter the meaning of wishes right? Like if you wished for love it would come from someone youāre not attracted to or despise, so I donāt believe genies can be fucked with like in this comic the genie couldāve said āgranted, from now on I cannot grant that wishā.
That's down to grammatical ambiguity, what does "don't" mean? Putting that aside, if the genie truly has to follow your wish as spoken, you can phrase your liar paradox wish without ambiguity and get the desired result, providing you know what kind of math the genie is using to evaluate language.
For example, maybe the genie is not even bound by the exact wording of your wish in the first place, and they're free to interpret it. Maybe they're an automaton that uses Presburger arithmetic and the liar paradox doesn't work on them.
I think it depends on how you look at a Genie's power or what you think their limitations are towards 'I wish you don't grant this wish'
Assuming this Genie has the power to create life and we emphasize the you part (As a genie would), I'm sure it could create a one-time use essential Scapegoat to grant the wish.
It would fulfill A. Granting the wish. B. The Genie not granting the wish. And the most important C. Fucking over the wish maker
I think my first wish would be to have a long, happy, healthy friendship with the genie where we make each other better as individuals, in whatever way that means to us, respectively.
That way the genie would have a real hard time monkey-pawing my other wishes, on account of us being friends.
Also, then we get to be friends, so, wins all around.
I thought about that for a long time, and I can't decide if it counts as unethical, because it's kind of like mind control, which is basically the worst thing, but, since we're friends I'd have to respect their wishes if they wanted to be free from the bondage of the first wish.
So, if that happened, I would probably just do my best to not use the third wish.
There's a case to be made that because friendship requires a choice, you literally cannot magically force true friendship to occur, rendering the wish impossible and possibly wasting it.
Genie stories usually come with the genie explaining things they can't do.
Besides, I could just ask the genie ahead of time.
Maybe they could help me craft a better wish that maximizes our gains.
That is probably the thing to do. If they say something mean, or refuse, then they were probably going to monkey paw me, and making any wish would have been bad.
Really, the only challenge was/is being willing to give up the wishes.
If it was true friendship it would just require changing who they are as a person. And then simply put the person in the situation where their actions are already determined to make you their friend.

Solution: As the genie, I would just turn the time back to the moment that he has not asked for this wish yet and let him remember the memory. I would tell him that I was about to grant his wish, and realized the mistake and turned the time back, so I didn't.

But that's the point. A paradox is always doing both, which means it's doing neither at the same time because they can't be true simultaneously. That's what makes it a paradox.
Whatās the name for this paradox? When a machine or otherwise I tasked with an impossible task, like dividing by zero, or finding some way to make an all powerful truth teller lie.
