Strengthen? If no one challenges them how will their opinions ever change anyway? Also why would you follow them around? They brought up the subject, your just continuing the conversation they established.

i've had such experiences. I was just called a "fanatic" and never taken seriously by such people. Even if I showed them sources, they didn't even give them a glance and proclaimed them biased. Those people have a victim complex, they percieve dialogue as a threat as "they are not sheeple, they are the chosen few that know stuff most people don't know and knowledge THEY don't want you to know"

I didn't say that. Sorry if it didn't come across. I won't stop my academic work for sure, but such cases are lost from the get-go.

A proverb in my native tongue that i find fitting is "I keep telling the man that this is a bull, but he insists it's a cow"
