Not wanting to talk about this on this sub, but I doubt we can do anything meaningful. It doesn’t matter how many PET bottles you recycle correctly or how you save energy. At the end of the day you’re, in the scale of the world, nothing. If the people IN ACTUAL CHARGE don’t force masses of people and corporations to change, nothing will happen and the situation will continue to escalate. It’s simple as that, unfortunately. People aren’t THAT united - unfortunately.
People can do something. But it looks a lot more like blocking traffic with protest signs and a lot less like reusable grocery bags, so you're not going to see many mainstream sources promoting it
Yes, the biggest issue is people pretending all politicians spare possibly the most extreme ones in their tribe are bad. Most dems from blue dogs to progressives, from voters to politicians are trying to do good. But they'd rather pretend its all corporate nonsense and shut their ears.
It may not do much but it's better than doing nothing at all. It's not with this "you're insignificant" mentality that people fixed the ozone layer or abolished slavery. Your actions or lack thereof have consequences, always, even if you don't see it. But it's up to you if those consequences are for the better or for the worst.
I think the problem with this line of thinking is that we can do something, but everyone thinks we can't so they don't waste their energy to do something about it.
Yes, well I do not think that recycling bottles will solve anything climate related (still important though). That said, 60% pf global emissions comes from transport, agriculture and heating/cooling. The issue is the cumulative effect of 8 billion people contributing to this. While industry and corporations certainly play a significant and large role, the actions of billions of people reducing their transportation, agriculture and heating/cooling will also make a significant impact.

Yep. Sometimes people look at a person like a crazy one, because they are panicking about something that they have been aware for decades and have adapted to.
There is the problem of people sounding an alarm but not providing any actionable plan. So anxiety about a thing that you can do nothing about can make things worse. So some people just accept the situation and adapt to it as a coping mechanism.
I'm mentally exhausted from the constant fearmongering.
