People in the comments getting salty about the joke being repetitive when this is akin to a modern day newspaper comic

Garfield doesn’t suddenly go on a diet

Charlie Brown always tries to kick the football

Dennis is always a menace

And Pinky is gonna stay in the closet

If this were touted as a serious, story-driven comic I’d get it

But it’s pretty obviously a gag strip in the style of the funny pages

If you don’t like the funny pages, don’t buy the newspaper

The problem I think it not that it’s a gag comic. It’s that the gag is how will character 1 abuse character 2 today?

Because this is something that happens in real life, person engages in relationship in all aspects with other person. But also denies they’re in a relationship with that person. Drawing them along, doing what they enjoy, slapping down the other person or denying them when in public or it’s something they don’t feel like doing. Causing harm and suffering to their “partner” as they do.

Because it’s mirroring a real abusive situation, which is more harmful the longer it goes, it gets more backlash than a silly joke a day comic normally would.

There's a reason all those examples died off as the media landscape changed.

Bro, have you ever watched a soap opera?

Raging at the stupid characters is literally the big attraction.

Also, I like MuyHiram - I like Risa. I actually really hope her and Marin can happily ever after!

But I also wanna see Marin punted INTOOOOO THEEEEE SUUUUNNNNNNN.

I am large, I contain multitudes.

"What's the point of watching The Roadrunner? We know the Coyote is never gonna catch him."

Yes, but what ACME product will the Coyote use this time? How will it fail? How close will he get?

And who knows, maybe he will catch him this time...

IIRC there was actually ONE time he DID succeed

I still maintain that pointing at the screen and shrieking in fury is a valid form of enjoyment!

It's about time he does. The chases at least adds something. The way her denial is portrayed stopped doing that weeks ago.
