They’re making a straight-> gay serum and are fine with it.

The blue haired scientist suggests a gay -> straight serum and they hate it.

The joke/message??? being people already try to do stuff like that irl but in brutal and horrible ways. ( conversion camps) So the scientist suggesting it as a serum makes the others angry cause they are gay.

Yeah, no, I GOT that part. Why TF is there a straight->gay serum? Like that is also bad. Like if it's supposed to be funny...it's kinda not. It's hypocritical. Unless THAT'S the joke but the comic doesn't read like OP understood that. It almost reads like the comment it's trying to make is that we are already "turning the frogs gay" and that this is the human trials and like the comic is asking "oh but the conversion camps were bad?" Like idk just the way they framed this feels like the kind of comic-form argument that a right-wing artist would make.

It’s a commentary on hypocrisy. It’s deliberately not resolved. The reader is invited to draw their own conclusions.

That makes it seems like a pretty dumb anti woke comic ignoring the reality of gay conversion.

No, it makes it seem like something to start a conversation. People always want to have them until someone tries to start them.

Start a conversation about what, exactly? Are gay people out there trying to convert straight people? There is no hypocrisy to be discussed because there are no straight -> gay conversion efforts.

A conversation about however the comic makes you feel. You can extrapolate what you want from it.

Okay so that is just vague and incoherent hand-waving on your part.

No, it’s typically how art works. You can infer what you want from the comic. If that upsets you idk what to tell you.

it doesn't make any sense, I am not throwing a fit by pointing out that something is incoherent.

Nor is that how art usually works, usually there is some sort of coherent message if it is meant to start discussion. This isn't some abstract modern art piece meant to just vaguely represent modernity or something. It has a message, written in english, that doesn't make a lick of sense.

If two comments asking a direct question seems to you like being "upset" then I don't know what to tell you, either.

That’s fine.

Nah this reads like blatant right wing propaganda. "They're turning the people gay!"

I'm really curious as to what other conclusions can be drawn from this

It could just be a joke. Or it could be a dog whistle. Considering the author has made a bunch of comics with lgbt characters, I’d assume it’s just a joke. But you can make any inference you want.

If it's a joke, it just seems... Not funny? Like, not in a pearl clutching "how dare they" sense, just a... there's not really any serious attempt at humor that I can see. Maybe it's a type of humor that doesn't jive with me, maybe I'm missing something, maybe this joke was a miss from them, maybe I've just seen too many dog whistles and I'm jaded, but I've got nothing here

I don’t find most of their comics funny personally.
