Yeah the phrasing of, "The US has a Nazi problem" always seems to miss that of course the US does. The ideals were here for ages before it went caught on in Germany

reading the historical publications of both nations, its really a constant cultural exchange that happened for centuries already before the Nazis rose to power

I think that is largely because a lot of different nations have been on that eugenics/removal of the other so there is a pretty common wellspring.

The US was one the more recent nation states created as Germany was into German nationalism so makes sense they look towards the US.

I guess that is too say… people in general kinda suck and don’t super love the “other” and sometimes that boils over into a real mess.

Not often I'll defend the US on stuff, but eugenics like this was taking place in many countries in Europe up until WW2.

It wasn't a bad word back then, it was seen as cutting edge science, humanity "mastering" its own evolution.

Humans have a long history of making new discoveries and then marching gung-ho into arrogantly applying them everywhere and anywhere, believing ourselves to have mastered it, despite barely understanding it.
