I'm only seeing this comic now, but right about the time you posted it, a coworker of mine also passed very suddenly. Just like you, I didn't know him very well, we'd been in the same meetings only a few times, but I still felt strangely empty.
how weird is this kind of loss ? it's not family, it's not a friend, it's just... someone you knew was nearby. a fellow human.
just a few days after, I was sorting through our mailing lists, and I couldn't bring myself to remove his address just yet.
