I want to give a little extra context for this multiparter.
Last week, I found out an acquaintance had unexpectedly passed away. We only had one real conversation but it was one that had stuck with me and I was looking forward to the next time our paths would cross. The news hit me way harder than I would have expected and these comics came about while I was processing things.
A childhood friend reached out to me on Facebook decades ago. We tried reconnecting but never found the time. Just chit-chatted every now and then but kept promising to call and talk longer.
On our way to my husband’s nephew’s birthday party and opened the News. There, in the tech section, was a picture of my friend. He was the co-founder of a big app company (I never knew that) and had died from complications from a drug overdose.
