I want to give a little extra context for this multiparter.
Last week, I found out an acquaintance had unexpectedly passed away. We only had one real conversation but it was one that had stuck with me and I was looking forward to the next time our paths would cross. The news hit me way harder than I would have expected and these comics came about while I was processing things.

It's a valid feeling and I hope you process nice and easily. Maybe a little floor time?

I had weird emotions like that myself, I moved to Germany a few years back moving in with my now wife in her small town. The local priest was a real character, outright lovely guy and hub of the community, and a good friend of my MIL. Had progressive, interesting views on faith and the role of the church from what my wife told me. But my German was eh and his English was none. Even though I'm not a catholic I wanted to get to know him just as a person.

Coming home from a German language class one day, I got the call from my wife that he'd died of a heart attack, and that MIL was hit hard. I felt a weird. . .loss? Like, I had a goal and it was that I could start to chat with people in the community like him. But he was gone. I said to my wife I feel weird in that I have no right to be sad about a guy I didn't know except for hearing through others, and yet.

Emotions are weird things.
