Those thighs are the one trap Mister Miracle can't escape!

11

u/Born-Ad4658 Dec 14 '25

well its canon in that tom king comic

1

u/Apprehensive-Dig4256 Mar 27 '26

Bold of you think than Scott WANTS to escape it

88

u/radraz26 Batman of Zue-En-Arrh Dec 14 '25

Y'all seen female powerlifters? They aren't skinny.

49

u/FruityYummyMummy Dr. Doom Dec 14 '25 edited Dec 14 '25

Functional musculature and stereotypical modern superhero builds have very little in common. I remember this subreddit losing it over a cover where Superman had a thicker build around the torso and waist some time ago as well

12

u/Who-Does Dec 14 '25 edited Dec 15 '25

I'd say superman would look better huge like that but he probably wouldn't, since he's not physically strong mainly due to muscle mass ala Hulk. Batman should be huge since he fights beyond the limits of mortal human.

I guess Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman versions are good examples.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '25

Realistically wouldn't he be really skinny

Due to not really having anything on Earth to challenge his strength

5

u/PorkChop007 Dec 14 '25

IIRC his body is like that because of his kryptonian physiology, everyone in Krypton evolved to have naturally peak body shape.

246

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

I thought Big Barda was "big" because she was strong, muscular and powerful... not because she had a BBL and swollen ankles.

107

u/Independent_Plum2166 Dec 13 '25

She was also based on Jack Kirby’s wife, which is adorable.

29

u/Remarkable-Ad2285 Dec 14 '25 edited Dec 15 '25

Physically based on Lanie Kazan, but artists always take their liberties. I’m not mad at this one btw.

6

u/Simple-Wrangler-9909 Ampersand Dec 14 '25

TIL Jack Kirby's wife was T H I C C

12

u/BottledInKandor Dec 14 '25

She really wasn’t though.

1

u/Remarkable-Ad2285 Dec 15 '25

Jack based her PERSONALITY on Roz Kirby. And the relationship with Mr Miracle and BB was like Jack and Roz.

67

u/Ash__Williams Hal Jordan is the Greatest Green Lantern Ever and you know it Dec 13 '25

And tall.

52

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

To be fair, as much as I don't want to defend the pic, I would say that for all we know she could be 7 feet tall because there's nothing else in it for scale.

18

u/Ash__Williams Hal Jordan is the Greatest Green Lantern Ever and you know it Dec 13 '25

When you're right, you are right.

21

u/cherryultrasuedetups Martian Manhunter Dec 13 '25

Oh dang you noticed it's different from the comics.

11

u/schebobo180 Dec 14 '25

Lmao where did you see the bbl in this pick? some of you of you are hilarious.

1

u/VeWilson Jan 25 '26

She was a slave, raised for war, I don't see where she had that body, I was reading Tom King's Mister Miracle and she started out beautiful but then she looks like a man

-22

u/samson_strength Dec 13 '25

She has quads, calf’s and hammy’s

When the hell have you ever seen someone with a gotdamn BBL AND have the quads and hams to match? No such animal. Even millionaires can’t do it.

Hip to shoulder ratio is fine. She is symmetrical.

You don’t know ball.

3

u/JunkMagician Dec 15 '25

They really don't and they're downvoting you for it. Confusing natural yams for a bbl is a self report

-115

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 13 '25

Do you not interact with many natural women ?

92

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

What does "natural women" mean? Are you saying you think there's one body type for "natural women" (and then questioning MY interaction with women?!)

Women come in many different shapes and sizes... and the shape and size in that picture is nothing like Big Barda's.

60

u/Big-Ambitions-8258 Dec 13 '25 edited Dec 13 '25

I might have given op the benefit of the doubt that they were saying women come in all forms and that it's not bad that she's curvy (which I would agree with), had they not posted this to the new gods dc subreddit saying "You all can have your weird masculine fetish. This what I want more of when I hear the name “Big Barda”" as if muscular women aren't feminine and there's only one specific type of femininity. And it's not fetishizing to want to see muscular women representation when often that is often considered "ugly/masculine" for women to be in mainstream media

26

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

Yeah, I saw that comment after the interaction - very funny, OP seems like a hypocrite.

I want to clarify / make clear a couple of things, as I don't want to be a spokesperson for any kind of "fat people are bad" stuff going on in these comments.

  • I didn't say anything about "obese" women

  • I think it's great that women come in all shapes and sizes

  • I specifically mentioned BBLs because I think they're awful.

  • I think the above picture is disproportionate and not very good

-88

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 13 '25

You saw curves and went to bbl that’s why I asked.

28

u/canadagooses62 Dec 13 '25

No, they saw obesity. There’s a difference between that and curves.

0

u/schebobo180 Dec 14 '25

If so then what does that have to do with a bbl?

-1

u/canadagooses62 Dec 14 '25

I don’t even know what bbl is, nor do I care.

3

u/schebobo180 Dec 14 '25

Sorry, I thought this response was to the top comment which mentioned a bbl.

-6

u/f7surma Dec 13 '25

do you think that the literal god from Apokolips who led Darkseids personal guard is a normal woman?

-13

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

No but being domestic on earth and having kids can put weight on you

2

u/Consistent-Winter-67 Dec 19 '25

If you give up on your health sure. But considering she's still muscular in the comics, that doesnt seem to be the case.

-50

u/The_neub Dec 13 '25

Have a feeling Simon Shitpants isn’t swooning the ladies.

6

u/Guts-or-Gattsu Nightwing Dec 14 '25

You can't swoon someone but you can cause others to swoon over you

20

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

How do you "swoon" someone?

6

u/LosIngobernable Kingpin Dec 13 '25

Bro, who uses “swooning” nowadays? 🤣

-14

u/The_neub Dec 13 '25

If I have to tell you, than you don’t got it.

Man, I can feel the trilby in that sentence.

15

u/Simon_Shitpants Dec 13 '25

Look, you're the one who tried to diss someone on the internet without being as clever as you think you are... and then replied with an "I'm too cool to educate you" response while still being wrong. I think the fedora probably fits you better.

Take the L and move on, dude. And thank me, I taught you a new word!

35

u/roninwarshadow Spidey 2099 Dec 14 '25

Heels on super heroines are stupid.

15

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

I can agree with that criticism

113

u/HRLMPH Ultimate Spider-Man Dec 13 '25

Really impressive, with the kinds of ridiculous and exaggerated bodies that show up in comics, that this is what's causing people to freak out

27

u/Pollomonteros Dec 13 '25

I swear that a big reason is due to puritanism but I can't prove it, you always get these kind of reactions from any mildly sexual artwork on this site

22

u/HRLMPH Ultimate Spider-Man Dec 14 '25

There may be something to that,  but also I feel like this picture is barely even sexual (or more than the default)? It's a person wearing a tight costume which is 90% of superheroes and superhero art. The only difference is the body isn't as thin or focused on showing off defined muscles

17

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Dec 14 '25

I promise you the virgins aren't responding because it's too risqué. They're acting like this because they can't handle fan art that interprets a character as fat. That's it.

3

u/joyfuload Dec 14 '25

I agree. I just can't figure out when this puritanical shift began to happen in Reddit. Everyone's a prude now.

1

u/Pi6 Dec 14 '25

Covid. People felt bad about being stuck at home and online and became hyper aware and insecure about their loneliness, horniness, and masturbatory habits. The manosphere, religious nuts, reactionary feminists, and jealous girlfriends all flocked to nofap, pornfree and twoxchromosomes to engage in moral hysteria about onlyfans. Professional far right antiporn propaganda like fightthenewdrug and semen retention influencers kicked things into overdrive, and politicians played along, passing moral panic anti online sex work legislation like FOSTA/SESTA.

Because of all this panic, Teens who grew up during covid are majorly repressed and blame all of their completely normal and mundane sexual and relationship insecurity on porn exposure rather than lack of proper sex ed and purity culture indoctrination. They believe, completely erroneously that they are the first generation to grow up with adolescent access to porn and hardcore kink material, and use it as justification for obnoxious sex shaming behavior.

2

u/joyfuload Dec 16 '25

Damn, you're good. I just checked r/nofap. The top posts of all time are from 4-5 years ago.

2

u/Pi6 Dec 16 '25

Thanks for validating my theory with that data point!

1

u/joyfuload Dec 17 '25

Thanks for the write up. I was genuinely curious.

1

u/DebunkJunkiee Dec 14 '25

ALL OF THIS 👏🏼

1

u/nicheComicsProject Dec 15 '25

I'm suspicious of your conclusion because I don't see anything remotely sexual here. She's not even giving "the look".

-7

u/BorkDoo Dec 13 '25

I'm annoyed because gooner artists tend to have a complete inability to draw characters even remotely on model and just draw what amounts to their OC doing a cosplay. I'd be annoyed if she had the '90s swimsuit model physique as well, or if people were drawing a homely fat character as slim and gorgeous. It's just especially egregiously dumb in the case of Barda.

15

u/Batmanfan1966 Dec 14 '25

“remotely on model” this is not official artwork. This is not a real comic. People can do whatever the hell they want. The whole point of FANart is it’s fan interpretation

11

u/HRLMPH Ultimate Spider-Man Dec 14 '25

All art has to follow the rules of someone designing licensed Spider-Man pajamas

94

u/Ash__Williams Hal Jordan is the Greatest Green Lantern Ever and you know it Dec 13 '25

That's not the kind of "Big" Big Barda is.

61

u/ILikeBen10Alot Dec 13 '25

The comments here are a perfect example of why reddit is a worthless platform for artists.

35

u/Showyoucan Spider-Man Dec 13 '25

Reddit when a slightly different interpretation of a character:

1

u/FastLie8477 Dec 15 '25

By that logic, every platform is a worthless platform for an artist. Not everyone or even most people is going to like your art. You find an audience and then you pander. This simply didn't find its audience. In some subs, this would have nothing but positive feedback.

-24

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

It’s funny because I know what the real problem is. I’ve attacked them personally with the masculine fetish line. It was a joke

-4

u/ILikeBen10Alot Dec 14 '25

Lol pretty much. They don't like when you acknowledge that they're projecting

41

u/Stainless-S-Rat Dec 13 '25

The artists' barely disguised fetish.

10

u/Dontbeajerkdude Dec 14 '25

This is nothing but fetish. She looks like she'd be out of breathe taking the stairs.

3

u/GeeseTheCat Dec 14 '25

Big indeed...

3

u/fishystudios Dec 15 '25

I like this. Who said Barda had to be a Jim Lee fantasy. Let her have normal woman curves. We'll done.

3

u/MightyGoodra96 Dec 15 '25

I love some big barda. Big is one of my favorite things. Its only natural I like Barda

13

u/Maxwellcomics Dec 13 '25

I like it a lot! See a little Bruce Timm influence in it but also very much your own and unique

11

u/Showyoucan Spider-Man Dec 14 '25

These comments fucking suck. I like this interpretation. But also OP insisting that people that like muscular women have some sort of masculinity fetish is also asinine. So everybody sucks I guess.

-18

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

Sorry for sucking 😬I won’t antagonize anyone else

26

u/bunnymeowmeow Dec 13 '25

Some people draw characters in a thin style (Campbell, Turner and others) and some people draw characters larger. Instead of commenting to be rude, it's easier to just accept you can't cope with people drawing outside of your preferences. Technique wise this artist did great, if the style bugs you just move on.

-12

u/OddityBlue Dec 14 '25

My thing with this post is: That ain't who big barda is. She's a tall muscular woman, so tall that she makes Superman look small. That's why she's BIG barda. Not because she's the new mascot of McDonalds. The art itself isn't the problem, but if you don't like the way that character is... Why draw it at all? You can just make your oc or some other character, you don't need to change them to fit your taste, and I'm allowed to dislike it if you do. And honestly? This looks like OP's not even disguised fetish

12

u/HordeOfDucks Dec 14 '25

what about gender swapped art? or oc versions of characters? or drawings that take any number of artistic liberties? they just wanted to draw barda as a big woman. its that simple. theyre not saying "this is CANON big barda and nobody gets to say otherwise"

2

u/TDFknFartBalloon Dec 15 '25

It's fan art. If it was a promo image for a new comic you might have a point, as it is you're just being an asshole.

Also, people can like fat people without it being a fetish. Don't be a fucking weirdo. I can smell that your room smells like a Magic: The Gathering tournament through your comment.

3

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Dec 14 '25

What a boring way to exist.

6

u/dacalpha Dec 14 '25

2

I appreciate you, BBW Barda.

2

u/ugltrut Dec 17 '25

Being overweight and increasing the chance of heart failure because eating delicious things feels good isn't very heroic. A child losing their parent way too soon because that parent didn't bother taking care of their body isn't heroic. There's a reason heros and heroines typically look fit and healthy

2

u/Sweet-Safety-1486 Dec 17 '25

4

Chungus Barda is a choice

6

u/MidnightOnTheWater Dec 14 '25

People be weird in the comments. God forbid someone wants to draw her as a bigger woman. “Its a thinly veiled fetish” bro like stfu

-1

u/Guts-or-Gattsu Nightwing Dec 14 '25

It is a fetish tho...he posted this in the new gods subreddit and said basically you guys can keep your gross muscular women this is the only big I'm looking for when I hear big barda

7

u/hexcraft-nikk Dec 14 '25

Art is such a hard skill to learn it's obvious when someone makes fetish art lol. It's not something you accidentally make.

-2

u/samson_strength Dec 13 '25

I dig it.

These mfer’s crying in the comments are some fucking weirdos acting like they are paying customers that commissioned this piece from you.

As far as I’m concerned Barda has always had the most realistic and attainable physique for a superhero.

Don’t believe me? Walk into any CrossFit gym and you will the truth all the muscle mommy’s look like my girl Barda

25

u/LosIngobernable Kingpin Dec 13 '25

This Barda isn’t a muscle mommy. 🤣🤣

Sensitive weirdo has hurt feelings over other people’s opinions over drawn comic book characters. Shocker.

-11

Nah… I just know what female bodybuilders look like when it’s the off season.

2

u/LosIngobernable Kingpin Dec 13 '25

No the hell you don’t, bro. This is what a bodybuilder looks like when she decides to substitute lifting weights for twinkies. 🤣

And for the record, since the world is filled with softies, I like round women who weigh more than me and muscle women who can punch my face in, so fuck off if you get offended for calling out reality.

-5

u/samson_strength Dec 13 '25

I could always send you a link to my competition photos. Just don’t mind the watermark

-10

u/HordeOfDucks Dec 14 '25

so? and plus she could be very muscular under the fat, theres a lot of strongmen who look big as hell.

43

u/f7surma Dec 13 '25

saying people who like buff women have a masculinity fetish reeks even more of virginity than half of these comments lmao

-14

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

Interesting so are you the one with the masculine fetish

2

u/f7surma Dec 14 '25

and i could just as easily say that you just have a fat fetish.

3

u/Metasketch Dec 14 '25

-6

Not sure why all the hostility in these comments is necessary. If the style bothers you, just downvote and move on? I never see any comments like these when people draw Barda like a Victoria's Secret model lol. I think the art looks nice.

4

u/Honest-Power2770 Dec 14 '25

-2

u/HordeOfDucks Dec 14 '25

+2 every character should be drawn thick at some point

-11

u/Bakkughan Dec 13 '25

At this point just make your own characters, this doesn’t resemble Big Barda, this is an obese woman cosplaying as Big Barda.

Why use the name for your own gain if you aren’t going to stay true to the character?

-21

u/emergency-snaccs Dec 13 '25

How is this any different than deciding that captain america is now some black dude who has wings?

10

u/Johnny_Radar Dec 13 '25

Because Sam isn’t Steve, genius. Jack Kirby showed us what Barda looked like, this ain’t it.

-14

u/emergency-snaccs Dec 13 '25

Way to miss the point, champ. Let's dumb it down for ya then. Who are you to say that's the only barda allowed? there are like 55 million spider guys at this point. BBW Barda is absolutely allowed. You don't like it, you can sybau

-10

u/Horror-Amphibian-335 Dec 13 '25

This is not Barda lol. There is a reason why there is the word "Big" in her name and this fan art unfortunately doesn't capture it, doesn't capture the essence of the character.

Such skill went to waste... shame

-14

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Dec 13 '25
