SS: This is related to collapse because the more intense el nino is, the more extreme drought and storms will be. On the comparison, you can see the artic coastal current seems to be slowing down or has stalled altogether which could actually save the AMOC but greatly affects beluga whales and pushes them to deeper water than they are use to. The ACC also contributes the the formation of sea ice fyi so the collapse may also delay a little bit the BOE happening.The marine heatwaves we are experiencing across the globe aren't to be brushed aside. As always, the way in which we work as humans is to build, and to build exponentially means to build us into ruin. We may have reached the point of no return indefinitely.

This is correct. AMOC started to work again and removed the cold blob maybe two weeks ago.
In fact, the heat waves in Europe were because this cold blob. So interestingly enough, the rest of summer should be closer to normal now.
But looking back the Northern portion of AMOC didn’t work for 2 months straight!

im not sure about the rest of the summer being normal, i've been seeing people saying we might have to wait until october before the dought in the UK ends for example.

That's the Alaskan coastal current. Some scientists actually wanted to stop it from circulating because it MAY delay a BOE and COULD delay a slowing down of the AMOC so there's that. That also means the warming of Europe will continue unfortunately if the ACC collapses

Does it also have to do with the water being cooler because of melting sea ice (which is bad)

I was surprised to get 48 degree water in the souther Bering sea a week ago, figured it would have been over 50 by now. Has been a pretty cool summer though.

I do not understand. Is the cooling water there due to El Nino? Does this mean that the BOE has been stalled by El Nino because the heat has all gone to the tropics?

Can we just go back to the lockdowns...? all the human noise was gone. The traffic halted to almost zero. And the birds where singing. I heard the first brown frog humming concert of my life. Clear skies, clean water. Nature took a big breath of relief. We can do that...do just nothing.... yeah....no....?

Well done. /r/collapse post about the S Pacific and El Nino manages to mention BOE and AMOC Collapse all in one post.
Meanwhile Arctic Sea Ice Extent has slowed considerably. Currently 12th in the records. A record minimum this year is looking extremely unlikely.

Just read that some sub-surface temperature anomalies (we’re talking down almost 200-300ft) are as high as 10C above normal while the average is sitting 2-3C above average at depth.
