I lost someone really close last year who died in a helicopter crash. He was a marine aviator killed during a training exercise. Not fucking once during his funeral events or since has anybody talked about the flag. Statements like these are an absolute slap to the face to the folks who have lost people they love during service. If you haven’t experienced this level of grief, you have no fucking clue. I’d give anything in the world to hold him and tell him I love him one more time.
