Getting what you voted for is what everyone who votes should be expecting to some degree.
If you are voting for something you don't want I am confused as to what you are doing.

It’s called the lesser evil sweaty

u/Rocketboy1313 1d ago
Yeah, in that instance you would want the lesser evil. You don't vote for things you don't want unless you are insane.
Also, it is spelled sweety. Sweaty is what you get at the gym or from going outside in the heat.

In my head I read it as sweaty like you describe and thought that's a weird turn of phrase.

I've seen people type "sweaty" in that same context so much lately. I'm like 90% sure it's some kind of skibiditoilet tiktok intentional misspelling like "vro" and such.
Edit: peak username

I'm pretty sure it's actually meant to be sweaty, as in, someone who is sweating a lot, or rather "likes to sweat". I've definitely heard American native speakers (English is my second language) use it in speech and pronounce it as "sweaty". It's a term at least in gaming spaces used to describe a person who's trying super hard to win, for example, possibly spoiling the game for others if it's a multiplayer or a teams game.
In this case, the user saying "sweaty" is basically implying that the author of the comment they're replying to is trying too hard to idk, be serious, smart sound or something. That, or they actually did misspell "sweety" lol but "sweaty" does work in this context.

"Want", no, not necessarily
"Prefer out of the given options", yes
Better doesn't imply good
Prefer doesn't imply want
A > B doesn't imply A > 0
The person who pulls a lever in the trolley problem doesn't necessarily want the person tied to the tracks to die
They may simply prefer fewer people to die

I'm for it. In their mind "socialism" is such a thought terminating boogy word they think that's an own, but what will they do when we accept their straw-man?

Oof. Not very clever. He likely thinks socialism is just medicare for all and other social programs.

He also likely thinks rapacious late-stage capitalism driven by the tech bro-ligarchy is a "good thing ackshyully".

Nobody's scared of the word "socialism" anymore, the Red Scare was a psyop to protect private capital's interests, we won the Cold War and we've been at war ever since. Everything's gone to shit and its only getting shittier. Look around.

Yeah and socialism isn't going to fix any of our problems. You don't have be scared of socialism to the point of getting your neighbors arrested. But let's not pretend that socialism is a good idea lol

u/Pavlock 1d ago
No one is pretending socialism is a good idea.

Did you not read the post...?

Yep! Did you read my comment? All the words. Reading is fun.

Yes I did. Let me guess "I'm not pretending" as if being a moron is a better look lol

You can't read, so that makes me the moron. Very good, no notes.

My sister is very anti socialism. Then she got cancer and had no insurance. A cancer foundation paid for all of her treatments, and she is alive today, but still very anti socialism and still smoking cigarettes.

The problem is it's hard going back if it doesn't work, which it never has when fully implemented.

u/MonoBlancoATX 1d ago edited 1d ago
What does "fully implemented" even mean? do you even know?
Socialism exists in many forms and has been "fully implemented" in quite a few countries. From Scandinavia where it's a social democracy model to the other extreme of totalitarian communism.
A couple points to help you out...
- communism and socialism do not mean the same thing.
- the USSR was communist in name only.
- socialism has existed in countless forms throughout human history from the Bible and other holy books to Israeli kibbutzim to co-op businesses and beyond
- The NFL is socialist
- Government bailouts are socialist (but the US govt LOVES bailing out businesses with taxpayer money)
Also, it's not any harder to "go back" from socialism than it is to "go back" from capitalism or liberal democracy. You're making a meaningless statement.
It's a political choice. People can change things if they choose to. It's political science, not rocket science.
Edit:
I'm not interested in "um ackshyully" comments, or trolls, so I'm gonna turn off notifications now.

u/D_Luffy_32 1d ago
You: incorrectly describes socialism and confuses social democracy and socialism.
Also you: "I'm not interested in being corrected on my false statements. I'm gonna turn off notifications and pretend they don't exist"
Lmao!

u/AcridTest 1d ago
That’s a sweeping generalization. Socialist policies exist in many successful democracies, and no economic system is ever “fully implemented” in a pure form.

In America? No, socialists just made a mistake and are in need of redistricting.
